The Gospel of Mark Chapter 10 V- 17 and 25

17 As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 Jesus answered him, “Why do you call me good?* No one is good but God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness; you shall not defraud; honor your father and your mother.’” 20 He replied and said to him, “Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth.” 21 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, “You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to [the] poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” 22 At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. 23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to pass through [the] eye of [a] needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Mark 10:17-25 recounts the story of a wealthy young ruler who approaches Jesus, seeking eternal life. He follows the commandments faithfully but is challenged to sell all he owns and give the proceeds to the poor. This request leaves him sorrowful, as he had great wealth. Jesus then teaches His disciples about the challenges the rich face in entering the Kingdom of God, famously stating that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven.

While this passage may appear to suggest that wealth is inherently detrimental to one’s spiritual life, it’s essential to understand the broader context. Wealth itself is not the issue; rather, it is the attachment to wealth that can hinder one's relationship with God. It's perfectly acceptable to be rich, as long as one approaches wealth with a heart of generosity and stewardship. Tithing is a beautiful expression of gratitude and recognition that all we have is a gift from God. By committing to share a portion of our resources, we not only bless others but also align our priorities with Christ’s teachings.

Moreover, living in goodwill by giving and serving those in need is a way for us to acknowledge the blessings of our prosperity. When we seek Christ in others and recognize their inherent worth, we are truly living in a redeemed manner.

In essence, wealth can be a tool for building God’s Kingdom when wielded with love, compassion, and a spirit of giving. Let us strive to maintain a heart posture that seeks to honor God with our finances, understanding that true richness lies not in possession, but in love and generosity towards Christ Himself. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Ephesians 6:17-20

03-03-2025 Mark 10 v1725

**How Hard it is to Enter the Kingdom of God**

In the glow of the setting sun,

A young ruler approached with grace,

“Good Teacher, what must be done,

To inherit eternal place?”

His heart was earnest, seeking truth,

But riches held him in their clasp,

An empty search for lasting proof,

Could he let go, could he unclasp?

With eyes of love, the Savior saw,

The chains of gold that weighed him down,

“Sell all you have, obey My law,

And follow Me, leave wealth’s crown.”

The ruler sighed, his spirit torn,

For treasures filled his very soul,

In wealth's embrace, he felt so worn,

Yet yearned for joy that made him whole.

The lesson learned, a truth so stark,

“For camels, paths are narrow here,

To enter heaven's shining arc,

We must release what we hold dear.”

With heavy hearts, the disciples stared,

“Who then can find the path to grace?”

Yet Jesus smiled, His love declared,

“Through God, all things find a place.”

In giving freely, treasures sway,

For in our love, true riches grow,

To tithe, to share, to light the way,

Transforms our hearts, this truth we know.

Seek Christ in others, share the load,

In acts of kindness, life redeemed,

With open hands, we walk the road,

Where faith and love are truly deemed.

So let us ponder, let us seek,

In every heart, a golden thread,

For riches fade, but love’s mystique,

Is what the Savior truly said.

From Mark's reflections, wisdom springs,

Embrace the life that giving brings,

In Christ alone, our spirit sings,

For wealth is joy when love takes wings. Amen.
