The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 14 Verses 25 thru 33

25 During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. “It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear. 27 At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw how [strong] the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 After they got into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, “Truly, you are the Son of God.”

In Matthew 14:25-33, we find the powerful account of Jesus walking on water and Peter’s attempt to join Him. The disciples, caught in a storm, were terrified when they saw Jesus approaching, thinking He was a ghost. Jesus reassured them, saying, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” This divine presence transformed their fear into faith, yet it was Peter's boldness that stands out. He called out, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.”

When Jesus invited Peter to step out, Peter's initial faith compelled him to walk on the water. However, as he noticed the raging storm, his confidence wavered. He began to sink, crying out for Jesus to save him. What a profound parallel this serves for our lives; little faith often keeps worry festering in our hearts, but great faith positions us to rise above life’s storms in a state of peace.

Jesus' immediate response to Peter’s cry—“You of little faith, why did you doubt?”—expresses His willingness to catch us even when our faith falters. When we focus on our challenges instead of our Savior, we sink into worry and despair. In contrast, when we possess great faith, we’re empowered to rise above our uncertainties, navigating the turbulent waters of life with a sense of calm and security.

Walking on water symbolizes not just the miraculous, but the journey of faith. Let us remember that it is through looking to Christ, even amidst the storms, that we find stability and peace. As we strengthen our faith, we’ll discover the ability to rise above our worries, anchored in the assurance that He is with us. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

08-05-2025 Matthew 14 v2533

**O You of Little Faith**

In the night, amidst the stormy roar,

But in the darkness came a figure sure.

Disciples trembled, hearts gripped by fear,

“Take courage,” Jesus spoke, “I am here.”

Across the waves, like a dream divine,

With eyes on the Savior, Peter's heart aligned.

Jesus walked where no man dares to tread,

“Command me, Lord, to where You’ve led.”

He stepped from the boat, embraced by faith,

But doubt crept in as the winds did race.

The waters held him in a wondrous sway,

And soon he faltered; he began to pray.

“Lord, save me!” he cried in that moment of need,

As Jesus reached out with a love indeed.

Down in the depths, He felt the despair,

And lifted him high, from the storm laid bare.

“You of little faith, why did you fear?”

For great faith holds the storms at bay here.

In that embrace, Peter found his way,

With Christ beside us, we can walk on the spray. Amen.
