The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 14 Verses 13 thru 16
13 When Jesus heard of it, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself. The crowds heard of this and followed him on foot from their towns. 14 When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, and he cured their sick. 15 When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said, “This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 [Jesus] said to them, “There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves.”
In Matthew 14:12-16, we witness a profound moment that speaks to the heart of our mission as followers of Christ. After John the Baptist's death, his disciples come to Jesus to share the tragic news. Yet, amidst grief, we find Jesus seeking solitude, an exemplar of compassion for the weary and distressed. When the people seek Him out, He embraces them—not with mere words, but with tangible love and sustenance. He recognizes their hunger, both physical and spiritual, and responds not just to their immediate needs but to their deeper longing for connection and salvation.
This passage serves as a powerful reminder of our calling: to feed the lost, the lonely, and the languished not only with material resources but more profoundly, with the food of salvation. In the Eucharist, we share the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ—the ultimate nourishment that transcends the fleeting nature of earthly sustenance. This divine gift remains forever, untouched by decay, providing eternal life and hope to all who partake of it.
As we reflect on our role in this sacred mission, let us remember that sharing the Eucharist is more than a ritual; it is an intimate act of love. The divine presence within the Eucharist fills the void of those who feel abandoned and lost, offering them spiritual nourishment that revitalizes the soul. As stewards of this incredible gift, we are called to reach out, inviting others to encounter Christ in the breaking of the bread.
So, let us be diligent in our efforts to share this transforming grace. Together, we can provide for those who hunger for more than mere bread—let us lead them to the eternal feast that is found in Christ alone. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Give Them Food Yourselves**
In shadows deep, the news did spread,
Of John the Baptist, who lay dead,
Yet Jesus sought a quiet shore,
To heal the heart that craved much more.
But crowds pressed in, with longing eyes,
The lost and weary, their hopeful cries,
With mercy's touch, He turned to them,
Their hunger stirred, His heart would defend.
He took the loaves, the fish He blessed,
Multiplied grace, their needs addressed,
In every morsel, love did flow,
A banquet rich, for souls hung low.
O, share the food that will not spoil,
The Bread of Life, our hearts to toil,
In Body, Blood, He meets our need,
Eternal sustenance for souls to feed. Amen.
