The Gospel of Luke Chapter 17 Verse 11 thru 19
11 As he continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was entering a village, ten lepers met [him]. They stood at a distance from him 13 and raised their voice, saying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!” 14 And when he saw them, he said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; 16 and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? 18 Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” 19 Then he said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
In Luke 17:11-19, we encounter an emotional narrative that illustrates the power of thankfulness and the transformative mercy of God. This passage recounts the story of ten lepers who boldly approached Jesus, seeking healing for their grievous disease. In this desperate moment, they called out to Him, acknowledging His authority and power. With compassion, Jesus instructed them to show themselves to the priests, a traditional requirement for validating their healing. As they followed His command, their leprosy was miraculously cleansed.
However, amidst this extraordinary act of healing, only one of the ten lepers returned to offer thanks to Jesus. This Samaritan, recognizing the profound change in his life—the liberation from his painful affliction and the restoration of his dignity—fell at Jesus' feet, praising God with a heart full of gratitude. In a world where it is all too easy to focus on what we lack, this leper’s actions remind us of the importance of recognizing and expressing gratitude for God’s blessings.
The passage speaks to more than physical healing; it invites us to reflect on our own spiritual ailments and the graciousness with which God clears them from our lives. Just as the lepers were healed, we, too, experience the liberating touch of Christ. It is a humbling reminder that each of us carries our own infirmities, whether they be sins, burdens, or emotional struggles. Daily life can sometimes overshadow these blessings, but we are called to remember and give thanks for our own healing—both seen and unseen.
Moreover, this narrative echoes another powerful story in Scripture: the healing of Naaman from leprosy, as recounted in 2 Kings 5. Naaman, a commander of the army, was initially reluctant to follow God’s instructions through the prophet Elisha. Yet, through humility and obedience, he was healed of his leprosy. This account parallels the story in Luke, reinforcing that God’s willingness to heal is not bound by the depth of our afflictions but is a demonstration of His grace that we can access today.
In both instances, God offers us healing and restoration, urging us to embrace a posture of gratitude. Let us be like the one leper who returned to give thanks, acknowledging the Lord’s goodness in our lives. Every day, we should lift our voices in gratitude, for God has indeed cleansed us of our infirmities. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Day nine Novena prayers of Kayley. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
10-12-2025 Luke 17 v1119
**Your Faith has Saved You**
In ancient lands where shadows play,
Ten lepers stood in bodily disarray,
Their skin a canvas marked by pain,
In hope of healing, they called in vain.
From distant shores, their voices rose,
"Jesus, Master!" their sorrow exposed,
With mercy's glance, He healed their plight,
Yet one returned to share his light.
The others dashed, their joy expressed,
But one, a Samaritan, felt eternally blessed,
With grateful heart, he turned around,
To fall at the feet where love abounds.
"Thank You," he cried, with tears so clear,
For in his gratitude, God drew near.
"Where are the nine?" the Master sought,
In silent awe, their thanks forgot.
So let us learn from this brief divine tale,
In moments of grace, we must not fail,
To give our thanks for blessings bestowed,
And walk with gratitude on this winding road. Amen.
