The Gospel of Luke Chapter 11 Verse 5 thru 13

5 And he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,6 for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him,’ 7 and he says in reply from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence. 9 “And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.11 What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish? 12 Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg? 13 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

In Luke 11:5-13, Jesus presents a powerful parable that illustrates the importance of persistence in prayer. He tells the story of a man who, in the dead of night, approaches a friend seeking bread for an unexpected guest. Despite the late hour and initial reluctance, the friend ultimately responds, not out of friendship, but because of the man’s relentless knocking. This persistence emphasizes a profound truth about our relationship with God: through diligent prayer, we open ourselves to His grace.

Jesus continues by assuring us that if human beings, despite their flaws, will respond to persistent asking, how much more will our Heavenly Father respond to His children? He desires to give good gifts, especially the Holy Spirit, to those who seek Him earnestly. This passage is an encouragement to pray without ceasing, to approach God with a heart full of faith and a spirit of perseverance.

Prayer is more than a ritual; it is a dynamic conversation with God that shapes our lives and aligns our desires with His will. Just as the man in the parable did not give up when faced with initial rejection, we too are called to persist in our prayers. Diligently proclaiming God’s Word in every aspect of our lives reinforces our faith and serves as an avenue through which grace flows. Our advocacy for others, our supplications for our needs, and our expressions of gratitude should continually echo in our hearts and lives.

Let us remember that persistence in prayer is not a mere act of routine, but an engaging practice of our faith that invites God’s grace into our situations. May we be steadfast, knowing that our diligence brings forth the abundant blessings He promises. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Day six Novena prayers of Kayley. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

10-09-2025 Luke 11 v0513

**Knock and the Door Will Be Opened**

In darkness deep, a man in need,

To a friend’s door, he makes his plea,

With fervent heart and humble stance to agree,

“Bring me bread for my guest,” he cries, "I beseech thee!"

The night is hushed, a heavy sigh,

His friend from sleep cannot comply.

Yet, persistence in the midnight air,

Brings forth a grace that answers prayer.

For though the door stays fast and closed,

The voice of need, it loudly flows.

“Not for friendship, but for your plea,

I rise to meet this urgency.”

Oh, what a tale the Savior weaves,

Of hearts that seek and souls that cleave.

Our Father waits with gifts in store,

For those who knock and seek Him more.

So cast your fears, bring forth your cares,

In every moment, lift your prayers.

For He who listens, lovingly gives,

And in His grace, our spirit lives.

With each request, our faith will grow,

A dance of trust, a sacred flow.

In practice and in proclamation bright,

We find our strength in His holy light. Amen.
