The Book of Matthew 5 v-33 thru 37

33 “Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.’ 34 But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. 37 Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.

In Matthew 5:33-37, Jesus addresses the importance of integrity and truthfulness in one's speech, emphasizing that one's words should reflect an honest and uncompromising commitment to truth.

“Again you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

This directive from Jesus underscores a deeper spiritual principle that is highly relevant to the notion of saying "yes" to Salvation and "no" to a life of sin, as well as embracing the Eucharist. The call to let our "Yes" be "Yes" and our "No" be "No" is a call to live a life of integrity, where our commitments and beliefs are transparent and unequivocal.

Saying "yes" to Salvation through Christ means making a clear, unambiguous commitment to follow Him and accept His sacrifice for our sins. It is a pledge to live a life that reflects the transformative power of His blood, which was shed for the forgiveness of sins. This transformation is not merely verbal; it must be evident in every aspect of your life. The Eucharist, as the Sacrament of Christ’s Body and Blood, is a profound expression of this commitment. Partaking in the Eucharist signifies acceptance of His ultimate sacrifice and a continual remembrance of His saving grace.

Conversely, saying "no" to a life of sin means rejecting actions and lifestyles that contradict the teachings of Christ. By affirming our “yes” to Christ and “no” to sin, we align ourselves with the truth and integrity that Jesus exemplified.

Matthew 5:33-37 calls believers to a life of straightforward honesty and integrity, which is essential when making the profound commitments associated with Salvation and the Eucharist. This passage invites believers to live transparently before God and others, reflecting the truth of their Salvation and the transformative power of Christ's sacrifice. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

06-15-2024 Matthew 5 v-3337

**Yes is Yes No is No**

In solemn vow, refrain from swears,

Let truth and honesty be your cares.

"Again, you have heard that it was said,

To those of old, in wisdom led,

'You shall not swear falsely, but shall pay

Your oaths unto the Lord, the righteous way.'"

But I say to you, let speech be pure,

No oaths by heaven, firm and sure,

"For it is God's throne, His holy seat,

And Earth, His footstool, 'neath His feet.

Nor by Jerusalem, the city grand,

For it's the city of the King, so stand."

"Nor shall you swear by your own head,

For you cannot make one hair white or red.

But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' your 'No,' 'No,'

Anything more is from the evil foe."

In every word, let truth abide,

In honesty and grace, confide.

So live in light, and humbly rest,

With simple speech, be ever blessed. Amen.
