The Gospel of Luke Chapter 11 Verse 47 thru 54

47 Woe to you! You build the memorials of the prophets whom your ancestors killed. 48 Consequently, you bear witness and give consent to the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them and you do the building. 49 Therefore, the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; some of them they will kill and persecute’ 50 in order that this generation might be charged with the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah who died between the altar and the temple building. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be charged with their blood! 52 Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” 53 When he left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things, 54 for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.

In Luke 11:47-54, Jesus confronts the religious leaders of His time, condemning their hypocrisy and highlighting their role in the ongoing rejection of the prophets. He starkly rebukes them for building monuments to the prophets while, in reality, they are complicit in their deaths. He proclaims that their actions reveal a deep-seated opposition to God's messengers, pointing out that these same prophets foretold the coming of the Messiah—an echo of God's redemptive plan throughout history.

As we reflect on these verses, it’s vital to remember that the blood of the prophets is not just a historical account; it is woven into the very fabric of God's promise. Each prophet, from Moses to Malachi, spoke of a coming Savior who would redeem humanity. Their messages, though often met with resistance, pointed toward the ultimate fulfillment found in Jesus Christ. In His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus embodied every prophecy, confirming the scriptures and the hope that they carried.

In Jesus, the promises of the prophets reached their glorious culmination. He not only fulfilled the prophecies concerning His birth, life, and sacrificial death, but He also broke the chains of sin and death, offering eternal life to all who believe in Him. The rejection of Jesus by the religious leaders illustrates the tragic irony of their ignorance, for they failed to recognize the very One they claimed to honor through their monuments to the prophets.

As we read this passage, let's ponder our own lives. Are we, too, building our monuments to faith while neglecting the call of Christ? May we understand that in Jesus, every promise is fulfilled, and every prophecy finds its meaning. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

10-16-2025 Luke 11 v4754

**They Were Plotting to Catch Him**

In the shadows where the wise men dwell,

A warning echoes, a truth they must tell;

“Woe to the builders of sepulchers grand,

For prophets fell by the scorn of your hand.”

Their legacy buried in walls cold and high,

While the blood of the righteous still calls from the sky.

With false reverence they paint the facade,

Pretending to honor, yet find they are flawed;

For in each stone laid, the truth they obscure,

And the voices of justice, they fail to endure.

The past is a mirror that shatters their pride,

As the spirits of old stand in judgment beside.

“Woe to you, scholars! You cage the divine,

With wisdom that blinds, and teachings malign;

You take the key to the knowledge of grace,

And lock it away from the hearts you erase.”

With silence they bind what was meant to set free,

In the name of the law they distort what can be.

The prophets arise, yet they turn them away,

As echoes of truth find no place to stay.

In chambers of learning, the shadows grow tall,

With every dismissal, they widen the fall.

For the kingdom of heaven is not built on deceit,

Yet they stand there, entrenched, refusing to meet.

Yet still, hope flickers where darkness has spread,

A call for the humble, a path for the tread.

For in every heart that dares to break free,

Lives the light of a love that can shatter the sea.

Though the scoffers may scoff, and the righteous may fret,

In the depths of their silence, a new song is set. Amen.
