The Gospel of Matthew 8 Verses 28 thru 34

28 When he came to the other side, to the territory of the Gadarenes, two demoniacs who were coming from the tombs met him. They were so savage that no one could travel by that road. 29 They cried out, “What have you to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the appointed time?”30 Some distance away a herd of many swine was feeding. 31 The demons pleaded with him, “If you drive us out, send us into the herd of swine.” 32 And he said to them, “Go then!” They came out and entered the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea where they drowned. 33 The swineherds ran away, and when they came to the town they reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs. 34 Thereupon the whole town came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him they begged him to leave their district.

In Matthew 8:28-34, we encounter a profound and striking narrative of Jesus' encounter with two demoniacs in the region of the Gadarenes. These men, tormented by demons, lived among the tombs, crying out and cutting themselves—a powerful image of the destructive power of sin and separation from God. Their plight reflects a spiritual reality that many face: when we ignore Christ as our Savior, we can unwittingly allow "demonic" qualities to manifest in our lives, leading us to places of despair, isolation, and pain.

Jesus approaches these afflicted men with unyielding compassion. He casts out the demons, proving His authority over evil and demonstrating His desire for redemption. The pigs into which the demons are cast drown in the sea, emphasizing the destructive nature of sin while simultaneously showing the transformative power of Jesus’ love. This confrontation reminds us that no matter how far we stray or how deeply we are entrenched in our struggles, Christ is always present, ready to heal and restore.

In these verses, we see a stark contrast between the fear of the townspeople, who chose to reject Jesus after witnessing His miraculous act, and the redemptive journey of the demoniacs. When we fail to recognize Jesus, we risk allowing sin to dominate our lives and steer us away from the truth. Yet, the message of this scripture is overwhelmingly one of hope: Jesus welcomes those who call upon His name, ready to forgive and transform our demon-like tendencies into the identity of a Child of God.

Let us remember that regardless of our past or the darkness we may carry, Jesus comes to offer us freedom and the chance for a new beginning. Embrace Him as your Savior, and you can experience the transformative power of His grace. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

07-02-25 Matthew 8 v2834

**What Have You to Do With Us Son of God**

In Gadarenes, the shadows loom,

Two men cried out from darkened tombs,

Tormented souls, no peace in sight,

Yet hope approached—a beacon bright.

With chains they were bound, in pain they dwelled,

Their hearts with fear, in silence yelled.

But Jesus came, with love that sought,

To break the bonds, their freedom bought.

"Legion," they cried, in anguish deep,

For many demons stirred from sleep.

But with a word, the Savior spoke,

And chains of darkness gently broke.

The swine ran wild, to watery graves,

A stark reminder of sin’s cruel waves.

The townsfolk trembled at what they'd seen,

And turned away from their Holy King.

Yet hope remains for every heart,

For Christ can cleanse and set us apart.

In Him, the demoniac finds their song,

A child of God, where they belong. Amen.
