The Gospel of Mark Chapter 1 Verse 21 thru 28
21 Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught. 22 The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. 23 In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; 24 he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” 25 Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” 26 The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. 27 All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.” 28 His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.
In Mark 1:21-28, we witness a powerful demonstration of Jesus' authority as He teaches in the synagogue and confronts an unclean spirit. The amazement of those present resonates through time, reminding us of the profound impact Christ's presence has on our lives. As He commands the spirit to be silent and come out, we are reassured that no force can withstand the authority of Jesus. This encounter illustrates not just His ability to confront evil, but also the grace that comes from knowing Him.
When we call on the Name of Jesus in our own lives, we invite His authority into our circumstances—both good and bad. Whether we face spiritual battles, emotional turmoil, or life’s everyday challenges, it is in Christ that we find our solution. The unclean spirit, recognizing Jesus, was forced to obey; how much more should we, as His followers, trust in His power to bring peace and healing to our troubled hearts?
Grace is the unmerited favor we receive, allowing us to approach Jesus with our struggles, fears, and doubts. In moments of despair, His authority shines brightest, providing us with the unwavering assurance that He is in control. The overwhelming peace that comes from a relationship with Christ is unmatched; it stands resilient against the chaos that life may throw our way.
So, let us remember that Jesus is the ultimate answer to our search for peace. By calling on His Name, we can experience freedom from the ‘unclean spirits’ in our lives. His authority is our refuge, granting us the amazement and grace we need to navigate the complexities of existence. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**A New Teaching With Authority**
In Capernaum beneath the sun’s warm glow,
Where waves whisper secrets, and soft winds blow,
A voice was raised with authority profound,
In the temple’s heart, a teaching was found.
Jesus stood firm, the crowd drew near,
His words like a river, both calming and clear,
He spoke of the Kingdom, of love and of grace,
Each heart captivated each mind found its place.
But amidst this peace, a cry broke the air,
A spirit possessed, a soul laid bare,
“What have you to do with us, Jesus of might?
Have you come to destroy us, to cast out the night?”
With a voice like thunder, yet gentle and pure,
Jesus spoke to the darkness, with power to cure,
“Be silent,” He commanded, “come forth from within!”
And the spirits obeyed, for the light shone in.
The crowd was amazed, their wonder took flight,
“What is this new teaching, with such holy might?”
With authority given, He drove out the fears,
In the face of despair, He brought forth peaceful tears.
From Capernaum’s shores to all lands unknown,
The news of His power, like rivers has grown,
For in those brief moments, the Kingdom unfurled,
And a healer arose to embrace the whole world.
So let us remember this day long ago,
When Jesus, with love, made the dark spirits go,
In the heart of each temple, let faith now arise,
For the teacher who speaks still opens our eyes. Amen.
