The First Letter of John Chapter 5 V- One through Twelve

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the father loves [also] the one begotten by him. 2 In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4 for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.5 Who [indeed] is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the one who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ, not by water alone, but by water and blood. The Spirit is the one that testifies, and the Spirit is truth.7 So there are three that testify, 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood, and the three are of one accord. 9 If we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is surely greater. Now the testimony of God is this, that he has testified on behalf of his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar by not believing the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever possesses the Son has life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life.

In 1 John 5:1-12, the Apostle John emphasizes the profound truth of faith in Jesus Christ as the pathway to eternal life. He begins by affirming that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, highlighting a transformative relationship that unites believers not only with Christ but also with one another. This bond of love is foundational; it compels us to obey God's commandments, which are not burdensome but rather a joyous expression of our faith.

John further underscores the testimony of the Spirit, who plays a pivotal role in confirming our identity as children of God. The Holy Spirit testifies to those who surrender to the calling of salvation, awakening within them a deep assurance of their faith. This divine witness affirms that we are not alone in our journey; rather, we are guided and empowered by the very presence of God. The joy of salvation becomes palpable as the Spirit ignites our hearts, reminding us of the immeasurable grace we have received.

The passage culminates in the declaration that eternal life is found in the Son. By accepting Jesus and the gift of salvation, we embrace a life that transcends the temporal, entering into a relationship with the Eternal One. In this reality, we find purpose, hope, and the promise of everlasting life.

As we reflect on these verses, let us remember that the Holy Spirit continually testifies to our hearts, affirming our status as beloved children of God. Through our surrender to Him, we not only experience the joy of salvation but also receive the gift of eternal life. May we live each day in the light of this glorious truth. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

01-09-2025 1 John 5 v0112

**The Spirit is the One Who Testifies**

In faith we stand, as one we rise,

Born of God, beneath the skies.

To love our brothers, hearts entwined,

In Christ, our Savior, truth we find.

His commands, like gentle streams,

Flow through our lives, fulfilling dreams.

Not burdensome, but joy bestowed,

In every step, His love we sowed.

The Spirit whispers, soft and clear,

Testifying love as we draw near.

A call to hearts that seek His grace,

In surrender, we find our place.

Eternal life, a gift divine,

In Jesus' name, our souls align.

He is the way, the truth, the light,

In Him, our burdens take to flight.

The world may fade, its shadows cast,

But in His love, we hold steadfast.

For those who believe, the promise stands,

In Christ, we live, in His gentle hands.

So let us share this joy we hold,

A story of love, forever told.

For in His name, we rise and sing,

Eternal life through Christ, our King. Amen.
