The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 8 Verse One thru Four
1 When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. 2 And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” 3 He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean.” His leprosy was cleansed immediately. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”
In Matthew 8:1-4, we encounter a powerful story of healing and instruction. A man with leprosy approaches Jesus, demonstrating profound faith by asking to be healed. Moved by compassion, Jesus touches him and says, "I am willing; be clean!" Instantly healed, the leper is transformed, both physically and spiritually. However, Jesus gives him a unique instruction: “Go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
This command to show himself to the priest is significant for several reasons. In Jewish law, a priest was the authority responsible for declaring someone healed of leprosy, allowing them to re-enter society and worship in the temple. By sending the leper to the priest, Jesus confirms the importance of community and ritual purification in the healing process. It emphasizes that healing isn’t just about individual experience but also about restoration within the community and adherence to the law.
Moreover, Jesus instructs the man to tell no one how he was healed, which may seem puzzling. This instruction serves to manage the crowds and the spreading of his miraculous identity as a healer. Jesus was aware that rampant publicity could hinder his mission and lead to misunderstandings about his purpose. His ultimate goal was not merely to amass followers due to miraculous signs but to teach about love, grace, and the Kingdom of God. Through this interaction, we see Jesus honoring both the law and the individual, emphasizing faith, obedience, and the profound transformation that comes from encountering him. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Novena Day Seven for James employment. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Show Yourself To The Priest**
In the quiet of a mountainside,
Where whispers of the heart abide,
A leper came with face aglow,
To seek the Healer, the one to know.
With trembling voice, he broke the vow,
"Lord, if You will, I can be whole now."
His hands outstretched, in faith he stood,
A cry for mercy, a plea for good.
Compassion stirred within the Lord he was heard,
He reached out, the touch of his sacred word,
“Be clean,” He said, and in that light,
The darkness fled, the skin turned bright.
A miracle borne from grace divine,
In the dust of the earth, love’s design,
"Tell no one," He whispered, yet joy unbound,
In the depths of silence, true healing found.
So may we seek, like the leper did,
With faith unyielding, our masks to rid,
For in the touch of Christ's embrace,
We find our hope, our resting place. Amen.
