The Gospel of Luke Ch 14 Verse 15 thru 24

15One of his fellow guests on hearing this said to him, “Blessed is the one who will dine in the kingdom of God.”16k He replied to him, “A man gave a great dinner to which he invited many.17When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, ‘Come, everything is now ready.’18But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, ‘I have purchased a field and must go to examine it; I ask you, consider me excused.’19And another said, ‘I have purchased five yoke of oxen and am on my way to evaluate them; I ask you, consider me excused.’20And another said, ‘I have just married a woman, and therefore I cannot come.’21The servant went and reported this to his master. Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.’22The servant reported, ‘Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is room.’23The master then ordered the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled.24For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.’”

In Luke 14:15-24, Jesus presents a parable that offers profound insight into the nature of God's kingdom and invites us to reflect on the heart of our own responses to His invitation. In the parable, a man prepares a grand banquet and sends out invitations to many guests. However, when the time comes for the feast, those invited begin to make excuses. One has bought a field, another has purchased oxen, and another has just married. Each one prioritizes their worldly concerns over the opportunity to dine with the host.

Jesus uses this story to illustrate a critical truth about the Kingdom of God—many who assume they have a guaranteed place at the table may find themselves excluded due to their indifference or misplaced priorities. The master, frustrated by the guests’ refusals, sends his servant to the streets to invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame. This represents God’s desire to extend His grace beyond the initially invited guests. It emphasizes that the kingdom isn't just for the wealthy or the elite; it is open to all, especially those marginalized by society.

As you reflect on this passage, I invite you to consider: Who will dine in the Kingdom of God? Are you among those who prioritize the distractions of life over a relationship with God? Jesus calls us to declare our priorities and to embrace the invitation extended to us, ensuring we do not allow the allure of worldly affairs to overshadow the opportunity for spiritual fulfillment.

Ultimately, the parable urges us to recognize the breadth of God's mercy and to engage wholeheartedly in what He offers, reminding us that the feast is waiting, and everyone is invited. Don’t throw your chances away on worldly desires when the kingdom of heaven is waiting to share a feast with you forever and ever. Amen.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20

11-03-2026 Luke 14 v1524

Who Will Dine In The Kingdom of God

In a quiet gathering, a banquet was laid,

With laughter and joy, the invite was made.

“Blessed are those,” one voice did proclaim,

“Who feast in the Kingdom, and know the Lord’s name.”

But many responded with reasons and pleas,

“I'm busy,” said one, “With fields and with trees.”

Another excused, “I've just bought some oxen,

I cannot attend; there’s no way I’ll soften.”

Yet the host, undeterred, sent out his call,

“To the poor and the outcast, I open my hall.

Go quickly,” he urged, “to the streets and the lanes,

Bring in the lost ones; let joy break their chains.”

For the feast of the Kingdom is grand and divine,

A banquet of mercy, a promise, a sign.

No more excuses; the doors shall not close,

For the heart of the Father with love overflows.

“Come one, come all!” the call echoes near,

In every dark corner, let hope disappear.

The last shall be first, and the meek shall be blessed,

In the presence of grace, our souls find their rest.

So hear the sweet whisper, the call to partake,

In the bounty of life, for love's endless sake.

Reject not the feast, nor let doubts hold you down,

For in the Kingdom’s banquet, true joy can be found. Amen.
