The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 6 Verse 24 thru 34
24 “No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat [or drink], or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? 27 Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?28 Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. 29 But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. 30 If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’ 32 All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. 34 Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.
In Matthew 6:24-34, Jesus presents a profound teaching that addresses the duality of devotion and the anxieties of life. He reminds us that we cannot serve both God and money, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God over material possessions. This pivotal choice lays the groundwork for a life free from the burdens of worry and anxiety.
As Jesus encourages us not to be anxious about our basic needs—food, drink, and clothing—He points us towards the steadfastness of God’s provision. He invites us to observe the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, which thrive effortlessly without the worry that often consumes us. This imagery serves as a gentle reminder that if God cares for the smallest of His creations, how much more will He care for us, whom He created in His own image?
Surrendering to the will of God entails seeking His righteousness, a call to align our lives with His divine purpose. When we commit ourselves to living righteously, we shift our focus from our anxieties to the abundant life He promises. In this surrender, we discover a profound sense of peace and assurance, knowing that our needs will be met according to His riches and glory.
As we turn our hearts toward Him, we are freed from the shackles of worry and are imbued with grace. This grace is not just a shield from anxiety, but a transformative power that enables us to live wholeheartedly in His favor. Thus, when we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we not only conquer our anxieties but also step into the fullness of His grace. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Novena Day Two for James employment. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

** Seek First The Kingdom Of God **
In shadows cast by worries deep,
Where treasures lie and fears do creep,
A voice of wisdom gently calls,
To trust in grace, to rise, not fall.
No servant can two masters serve,
For hearts divided seldom swerve,
From one to other, torn apart,
Choose one to follow, guard your heart.
The lilies bloom, adorned in grace,
No toil, no spin, in beauty’s face.
The sparrows fly, yet never fear,
For in His love, we are held so dear.
So cast aside your anxious care,
The future’s path, He’ll gladly share.
Seek first the Kingdom, and all will flow,
What you need, He’ll surely bestow.
In every day, let worry cease,
For faith transforms and brings us peace.
Live in the moment, trust in the now,
His providence is all we need to avow.
From dawn till dusk, let joy resound,
For in His grace, our hope is found.
Each breath, a gift, each step a chance,
To dance in faith, our hearts in trance.
So lift your eyes, the skies so wide,
He holds the world with arms spread wide.
Before the dawn, His grace will shine,
In every moment, forever divine. Amen.
