The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 25 Verse 1 thru 13

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them, 4 but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps. 5 Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ 10 While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked. 11 Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ 12 But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

In Matthew 25:1-13, Jesus shares the parable of the ten virgins, a story that highlights the importance of preparedness and vigilance in the context of His eventual return. The parable describes ten virgins who go out to meet a bridegroom. Five of them are wise, while the other five are foolish. The wise virgins take extra oil for their lamps, understanding that they may need it if the bridegroom takes longer to arrive. The foolish ones, however, do not prepare adequately and bring only the lamps without additional oil.

When the bridegroom delays, all ten virgins fall asleep. At midnight, they hear a call announcing the arrival of the bridegroom. The wise virgins are ready with their oil, while the foolish find their lamps going out. When the foolish ask to borrow oil, the wise refuse, as sharing could leave them all insufficient. The foolish virgins head to buy more oil, but by the time they return, the door to the wedding feast is shut. The parable concludes with a stern reminder: "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour."

This parable serves as a powerful metaphor for our spiritual readiness. The bridegroom represents Christ, and His return symbolizes the culmination of God's plan for humanity. Just as the virgins must be prepared with oil, we must ensure our hearts and lives are ready to receive Him. The message is clear: spiritual complacency can have dire consequences, and we must remain vigilant and attentive to our relationship with God.

As we reflect on this parable, let us stay awake and be prepared for the unexpected moments in our spiritual journey, reminding ourselves daily of the importance of living in readiness for our Lord's return. Amen.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Amen I Say To You I Do Not Know You

In twilight's glow ten maidens wait, 

With lamps held high, for love and fate. 

Five wise, who brought their oil anew, 

And five were foolish, dreams askew. 

The night drew near, the bridegroom late, 

They slumbered on, amidst their state. 

But when the call rang clear and loud, 

They woke in haste, a restless crowd. 

"Behold, behold! The time is nigh!" 

Their hearts beat fast, beneath the sky. 

Yet five who lacked the oil of grace, 

Found darkness clutching, no embrace. 

"Give us your oil!" the foolish plead, 

"Or else we cannot join with God’s speed." 

But wisdom speaks, a gentle tongue, 

"To share what’s ours would leave us none." 

So off they ran to seek their oil to burn, 

But while they sought, the tide did turn. 

The groom arrived, with joyous cheer, 

The wise stood ready, hearts sincere. 

The door was closed, the feast begun, 

The foolish sought but found no fun. 

“Who are you?” the groom would say, 

“I do not know you, go your way.”

Awake, dear hearts, for time is fleet, 

With oil in hand, let light be sweet. 

Be watchful, wise, in every quest, 

For love awaits, and we are blessed. Amen.
