The Gospel of Matthew Ch 21 Verse 28 thru 32

28 “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards he changed his mind and went. 30 The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did his father’s will?” They answered, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. 32 When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.

In Matthew 21:28-32, we encounter the parable of the two sons, a compelling narrative that speaks directly to the heart of obedience and the will of God. The first son initially refuses his father's command to work in the vineyard but later repents and goes. The second son agrees to the task but ultimately fails to follow through. Jesus poses a profound question: “Which of the two did the will of his father?” This parable starkly illustrates that true obedience to God is not merely about our words but is demonstrated through our actions.

Jesus further emphasizes this lesson by stating that tax collectors and prostitutes, often seen as the least righteous in society, will enter the kingdom of heaven before those who profess righteousness but fail to act on it. This shocking revelation serves as a call for introspection. It compels us to examine our own lives and the authenticity of our faith. Are we merely saying we will follow God's will, or are we actively living it out?

To live in accordance with God's will, we must engage in self-reflection, recognizing our shortcomings and the areas where we may have said "yes" but have not followed through. We are invited to repent and make a genuine commitment to act—just like the first son. This parable reminds us that it’s never too late to turn back to God, aligning our actions with our words.

Let us strive to embody the will of God in our daily lives by serving others, showing love, and seeking justice. In doing so, we not only fulfill our divine calling but also reflect the transformative power of God’s grace, welcoming all into His kingdom. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Came To You In The Way Of Righteousness

In a vineyard, a father stood tall, 

With two sons to whom he would call. 

"Go work today," he said with grace, 

One said "Yes," but turned from the place. 

The first son, with promise made, 

Spoke with lips yet plans delayed. 

He took the road of words sincere, 

But in the fields, he disappeared. 

The second son, with a hoarse reply, 

Said "I won’t go," a tempting lie. 

Yet as the sun rose high in the sky, 

Regret took hold; he changed his cry. 

He trod the path where duties lie, 

In sweat and toil, his heart did sigh. 

For actions spoke where words fell flat, 

In the vineyard’s soil, he found his mat. 

Jesus taught in parables so wise, 

Of hearts and choices, truth in disguise. 

The ones who seem lost may find the way, 

And those who seem righteous may go astray. 

For in the kingdom, the least shall rise, 

The humble and meek, the pure in their tries. 

So heed the call, let your heart find His lead, 

In love and grace, He’ll plant the seed. Amen.
