The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 15 Verse 21 thru 28

21 Then Jesus went from that place and withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon.”23 But he did not say a word in answer to her. His disciples came and asked him, “Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us.” 24 He said in reply, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But the woman came and did him homage, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 He said in reply, “It is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters.” 28 Then Jesus said to her in reply, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

In Matthew 15:21-28, we encounter the emotional story of a Canaanite woman who approaches Jesus seeking healing for her demon-possessed daughter. This passage beautifully illustrates the essence of perseverance and unwavering faith. Despite being a Gentile, and initially faced with rejection and silence from Jesus, the woman does not waver in her belief. Instead, she humbly persists, pleading for help and even acknowledging her humble position in relation to the Jewish people.

Her response to Jesus’ initial restraint is remarkable; she states, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from their master’s table.” This clever and heartfelt assertion demonstrates not only her desperation as a mother but also her profound understanding of grace. She recognizes that even the smallest measure of Jesus’ power is enough to transform her reality.

In this encounter, Jesus ultimately commends her faith, saying, “O Woman, great is your faith! Your request is granted.” Her story serves as a powerful reminder that faith often requires persistence and resilience, even when the situation seems hopeless. This Canaanite woman, perhaps seen as an outsider, embodies a level of faith that surpasses that of many who were deemed insiders.

As we reflect on this narrative, it's essential to ask ourselves: Are we showing the same tenacity in our faith? Are we willing to approach God with our needs, regardless of the circumstances? The Canaanite woman's example challenges us to cultivate a faith that boldly persists, believing in the goodness and power of God. Let us strive to be people of great faith, trusting in God’s promises and seeking His mercy, no matter our background or challenges. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. **O Woman Great Is Your Faith**

In quiet lands where shadows lie,

A mother’s heart began to cry,

A Canaanite woman a plea so pure,

To Christ, her faith would not deter.

With urgency, she sought the Holy One,

The healer, our Savior, God’s own Son.

“Have mercy, Lord,” her voice would call,

Her daughter tormented, lost in her thrall.

The disciples urged, “Send her away,

Her cries disturb us, let her not stay.”

But she pressed on, her faith ablaze,

Unyielding hope through shadowed haze.

“Lord, help me, hear my mournful song,

Even dogs eat crumbs—they don’t belong.

Your mercy, Lord, can break the chain,

With but a word, restore my pain.”

In wisdom deep, His words would flow,

“I’ve come for the lost, the sheep, the slow.”

Yet in her heart a fire burned bright,

Her love igniting the darkest night.

“O woman, great is your faith alight!

Your wish is granted, your child takes flight.”

At that moment, grace did soar,

Healing flowed, forevermore.

Across the lands, her story spread,

Of faith and love, where angels tread.

In every heart, a lesson grand,

In faith's embrace, we take His hand.

So let us learn from her bold quest,

To seek His mercy, to find our rest.

In trials faced, He hears our plea,

And grants our hearts His divinity. Amen.
