The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 14 Verse 22 thru 33

22 Then he made the disciples get into the boat and precede him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone. 24 Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it. 25 During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. “It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear. 27 At once [Jesus] spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter said to him in reply, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw how [strong] the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 After they got into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, “Truly, you are the Son of God.”

In Matthew 14:22-33, we encounter a powerful moment in the life of the disciples and their relationship with Jesus. After the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, Jesus sends His disciples ahead by boat while He retreats to pray. Later that night, a strong wind stirs up the water, and the disciples find themselves struggling against the waves. In the midst of their fear and uncertainty, Jesus approaches them, walking on the water. His presence brings an immediate challenge: He calls them to have courage and not be afraid.

This passage is not just a story of miraculous feats; it serves as a profound reminder for us today. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, we are inviting Him to guide us through the storms of our lives. Just as He asked His disciples to take courage, He extends that same invitation to each of us. The world can often feel chaotic and frightening, filled with challenges that threaten to overwhelm us. Yet, we must remember that Jesus has conquered the world (John 16:33).

When Peter steps out of the boat, he demonstrates great faith, trusting in Jesus despite the tumultuous conditions around him. This act of faith is a call for us as well—to take courageous steps in our lives, even when circumstances seem daunting. Jesus does not dismiss our fears; rather, He transforms them through His love and power. He reassures us that we do not face life’s storms alone. We are never abandoned.

In surrendering to Jesus Christ as our Savior, we embrace a life of faith, courage, and reassurance. As you navigate your challenges, remember that Jesus is with you, asking you to take heart and trust in Him. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**O You Of Little Faith**

In twilight's hush, the boat set sail,

Upon the waves, a whispered tale.

The heavens sighed, the tempest stirred,

Yet steadfast hearts, not all yet blurred.

The Master bid them cross the sea,

But storms arose, wild and free.

Amidst their fear, the sky grew dark,

Brave souls adrift, uncertain, stark.

Yet on the water, a figure emerged,

With steps of grace, the chaos surged.

“Take heart,” He called, “it is I, don’t fear!”

A voice of calm that drew them near.

Bold Peter cried, in faith’s embrace,

“Lord, bid me come! My heart will race.”

With eyes on Christ, he stepped from the boat,

Defying the depths he started afloat.

For a moment, he danced on the waves,

With every stride, his spirit braves.

But then he faltered, the winds did roar,

And doubt swept in as he sank once more.

“Lord, save me!” echoed through the night,

With outstretched hand, He grasped him tight.

“Why did you doubt? Your faith must hold,

In storms of life, be brave and bold.”

They climbed aboard, the winds grew still,

Peace swept the waters, a sacred thrill.

The crew in awe, declared with praise,

“Truly You are the Son of God’s grace!” Amen.
