The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 12 Verse 38 thru 42

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39 He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. 40 Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. 41 At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. 42 At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

In Matthew 12:38-42, we encounter an emotional moment in Jesus' ministry, where the Pharisees and teachers of the law demand a sign from Him to validate His authority. Despite witnessing countless miracles—healings, exorcisms, and nature obeying His commands—they still seek a further testament to His divine identity. Jesus responds by referencing the prophet Jonah, declaring that just as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, the Son of Man will be a sign to this generation. He emphasizes that the people of Nineveh repented at Jonah's preaching, while those before Him are missing the greater reality right in front of them—the Messiah Himself.

Today, we often find ourselves echoing similar sentiments—seeking signs or validating experiences to reaffirm our faith in Christ as the Messiah and the Son of God. However, the signs and wonders of Jesus are not confined to the pages of scripture; they manifest in our daily lives. Consider the beauty of creation, relationships built on love, and the transformative power of forgiveness. Healing, hope, and the unexplainable peace that accompanies faith are signs of the living Christ among us.

As we reflect on these verses, let us remember that the true miracle lies not in grandiose displays of power but in the subtleties of everyday existence. These moments invite us to recognize Jesus' presence in our lives—through answered prayers, acts of kindness, and moments of grace. Instead of demanding further signs, let us open our eyes to the abundant evidence already present. Trusting that faith, nurtured by these experiences, leads us closer to understanding that Jesus is indeed the Messiah. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

**Something Greater Than Solomon Here**

In a crowd of seekers, eyes wide with intent,

Came the scribes and the Pharisees, their hearts hell bent,

With questions demanding, a sign they implored,

"Show us a token, prove to us you’re the Lord."

But Jesus looked at them with wisdom profound,

"A generation seeks signs, yet true light can’t be found.

No sign will be given, save Jonah's great tale,

For he called to the Ninevites, and their hearts did not fail."

"In the depths of the ocean, three days he did stay,

Yet repented they swiftly when he showed them the way.

The Queen of the South traveled far to behold,

The wisdom of Solomon, this story has been retold."

"You see, something greater than these stands in sight,

A prophet of prophets, the Truth and the Light.

For Nineveh turned, at the prophet's decree,

And wisdom's own queen will rise up to see."

Yet here in their presence, they sought but a show,

Blinded by doubt, they chose not to know,

That the heart of the matter lay deep in belief,

For signs alone can’t grant a soul’s true relief.

So ponder the lesson of Jonah and reign,

In the hearts of the humble, His message remains.

For greater than wisdom, and more than a sign,

Is the love that transforms, and the grace Divine. Amen.
