The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 10 Verse One thru Seven
1 Then he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness. 2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3 Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; 4 Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him. 5 Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them thus, “Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
In Matthew 10:1-7, we find a pivotal moment in the ministry of Jesus, where He empowers His apostles to carry forth His message. As one of the twelve chosen by Him, I feel the weight of this calling deeply. The passage begins with Jesus summoning His disciples and granting them authority over unclean spirits, allowing them to heal every disease and affliction. This divine power validates our mission and assures us that we are not acting on our own, but under the direct mandate of our Teacher and Lord.
The names of the twelve apostles are listed, a reminder that each of us has been called by name for this sacred purpose. Each apostle brings unique experiences and qualities, yet we unite under the common mission: to proclaim the message that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. This proclamation is not merely an announcement; it is a call to repentance, healing, and understanding that God’s reign is breaking into the world through Jesus.
As we journey from town to town, carrying this profound message, I am reminded of the urgency and hope embedded in our task. Jesus instructs us not to take extra provisions; rather, we should trust in the hospitality of those we encounter and remain steadfast in our message. Our confidence comes not from material means but from the assurance that God is with us.
Therefore, dear readers, as we embark on this mission together, let us hold fast to the truth that the kingdom of heaven is indeed at hand. May our hearts be filled with courage and compassion as we go forth to share this good news, reflecting the love and grace of our Savior to all. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Make This Proclamation**
In a land where shadows softly tread,
Jesus called the Twelve, each heart led.
With authority given, He sent them forth,
To share the Good News, proclaim their worth.
Peter, the Rock, in faith did stand,
John with his love, a gentle hand,
James, the bold, with fiery zeal,
Together they journeyed, hearts to heal.
"Go to the lost, the weary, the poor,
Bring hope to the broken, and love at the door.
Heal the sick, raise the dead,
In My name, let My words be spread."
Against the darkness, they bore the light,
With courage and truth, they faced the night.
No coin in their pockets, no script in their hand,
Just faith in the message, a divine command.
“Be wise as serpents, yet gentle as doves,
Navigate the trials with grace, with love.
They may scorn you, persecute and divide,
But stand firm in your mission, for I am your guide.”
So off they went, in pairs they did roam,
To the towns and the villages, to make hearts a home.
Their mission was clear, their spirits set free,
To share the Kingdom of God, for all who would see.
In each act of kindness, in each healing touch,
The message of Christ, they spread out so much.
For in every soul, a spark could ignite,
A journey from darkness into the light.
Thus, from the Twelve, a legacy grew,
Of love and compassion, forever true.
In Matthew’s words, we find our own call,
To share in the mission, to reach one and all. Amen.
