The Gospel of Mark Chapter 1 Verse 14 thru 20

14 After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: 15 “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” 16 As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. 17 Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 18 Then they abandoned their nets and followed him. 19 He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. 20 Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.

In Mark 1:14-20, we witness a remarkable moment as Jesus begins His ministry in Galilee. After John the Baptist is arrested, Jesus proclaims the good news of God, calling people to repentance and belief in the Gospel. He then encounters Simon Peter and his brother Andrew, who are casting their nets into the sea. With a simple yet profound invitation—“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”—Jesus transforms their ordinary lives into a mission of divine purpose.

This call is not limited to the first disciples; it resonates throughout the ages. Each of us, as followers of Christ, has been invited into this sacred ministry of fishing for souls. Like Peter and Andrew, we are called to leave behind our familiar routines and embrace our identity as ambassadors of the Gospel. In a world filled with the lost, lonely, and languished, our mission is crucial. Jesus empowers us to reach out to those who are yearning for hope, support, and salvation.

When we share the message of Christ, we become instruments of God’s grace, casting nets of love and compassion into the lives of others. The act of sharing our faith can bring light into the darkest corners of human experience. Just as Jesus extended a hand to the first disciples, He extends His call to all of us: to follow Him and actively participate in His mission of redemption.

Let us remind ourselves that we are not merely bystanders; we are equipped with the Holy Spirit to reach those who are lost. By calling on the Name of Jesus, we enable others to find hope and healing. May we joyfully embrace our role as fishers of men, bringing the transformative love of Christ to our communities. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

01-12-2026 Mark 1 v1420

**I Will Make You Fishers of Men**

In Galilee's embrace, the sun arose,

A call resounds where the waters flow,

John in prison, but the message clear,

The reign of God has drawn near.

"Repent," He cries, "for it’s time to understand,

The kingdom of heaven is close at hand."

With a heart full of fire, He gathers His crew,

Four fishermen rise, to their calling they flew.

Simon and Andrew, the nets laid aside,

James and John, with their father they bide,

The waters of life drew them in close,

Left all that they knew, for what mattered most.

"Follow Me," said the One with the light,

"Be fishers of men, turn darkness to bright."

In the eyes of the Master, they found their new way,

Leaving shadows behind, embracing the day.

From the shores of the sea to the hearts of the lost,

They’d traverse every mountain, no matter the cost.

With faith as their anchor and hope as their sail,

They’d journey together, through storm and through gale.

From fishermen’s hands to the world’s great expanse,

A story of love, a divine second chance.

In the depths of our hearts, let His message ring true,

“Follow Me,” He beckons, and life will renew. Amen.
