The Gospel of Luke Ch 9 Verse 18 thru 22

18 Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” 19 They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’” 20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.” 21 He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone. 22 He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

In Luke 9:18-22, we find a pivotal moment in the New Testament, where Jesus asks His disciples, "Who do the crowds say I am?" Their answers reflect the varied perceptions of His identity. Yet, it is Peter who boldly proclaims, "God’s Messiah." This acknowledgment is not merely a recognition of Jesus’ title, but a profound understanding that He is the fulfillment of God's promise to humanity.

For us, believing and recognizing Jesus as the Messiah of God requires a personal journey of surrender. It begins with an openness to God’s will in our lives. To truly understand who Jesus is, we must quiet our own voices, our expectations, and our preconceived notions. This means approaching Jesus with a heart full of humility, seeking His truth rather than imposing our own ideas onto Him.

Surrendering to God’s Holy Will involves prayer, reflection, and a willingness to listen. Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal His nature and purpose for your life. Examine the Scriptures and let them speak to you. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your understanding, helping you to see Jesus not just as a historical figure, but as your Savior and Lord.

Further, engage in community with fellow believers who can share their experiences of recognizing Jesus in their lives. Testimonies can inspire and challenge you to deepen your faith. In service to others and in surrendering your plans for God’s, you may find deeper revelations of who Jesus is.

As we open ourselves to God’s will, we will inevitably come to see Jesus as the Messiah, not only in theory but in the very fabric of our lives. Let us embrace this journey of faith together, trusting that in surrender, we find true freedom and a deeper relationship with Christ. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

The Son Of Man Must Suffer Greatly

In quiet places, where the shadows play, 

A question lingers in the warmth of the day, 

“Who do the crowds say I am?” He inquires, 

The voices echo, stoked with whispered fires. 

Some call Him John, risen from the tomb, 

Others, a prophet breathing truth from gloom, 

Yet Peter, bold, with revelation’s light, 

Proclaims, “You are the Christ, God’s Son, so bright.” 

With solemn grace, the Master speaks with care, 

“To suffer and to die, this path I must bear. 

The Son of Man must face the bitter cost, 

For glory’s gain, reflect upon the lost.” 

He whispers secrets wrapped in love’s embrace, 

A crown of thorns must lead to saving grace. 

The journey set, the mission now unfolds, 

In humble heart, the Savior’s tale is told. 

So let us ponder, in the still of night, 

The truths we hold on to, the guiding light. 

For as we follow where His footsteps lead, 

We find in dying, life’s true heart will bleed. Amen.
