The Gospel of Luke Ch 9 Verse Seven thru Nine

7 Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, “John has been raised from the dead”; 8 others were saying, “Elijah has appeared”; still others, “One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” 9 But Herod said, “John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?” And he kept trying to see him.

In Luke 9:7-9, we encounter the intriguing figure of Herod the tetrarch, who, upon hearing about the ministry of Jesus, expressed a strong desire to see Him. Herod had heard reports about Jesus' miraculous works, his teachings, and the impact He was having on the people of Israel. However, his interest was not solely rooted in genuine curiosity; it was also influenced by the unsettling rumors surrounding Jesus. Some speculated that Jesus was a resurrected prophet, including John the Baptist, who Herod had beheaded, stirring a mixture of fear and fascination within him.

Herod's yearning to see Jesus reflects a broader human desire to understand the extraordinary, to confront the mysteries that challenge our perceptions of reality. Much like Herod, many of us feel an innate eagerness to know Jesus once we believe in Him. This yearning often arises from the transformative encounters we experience in our own lives—from the hope He brings in our struggles to the love that encompasses us in our loneliness.

When faith takes root, it ignites a longing in our hearts to grasp the true essence of Jesus. We want to witness His works, understand His teachings, and deepen our relationship with Him. Just as Herod sought to see the man behind the miracles, we, too, are compelled to explore the depths of Jesus' character, to know Him beyond rumors and hearsay. This quest for a personal connection is a testament to our faith—a response to the love and grace we find in Him.

As we navigate our spiritual journeys, let us harness this eagerness to truly see Jesus, allowing it to guide us toward a richer understanding of who He is and how He desires to work in us. Amen.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Who Then Is This About

In shadows deep, a kingly quest, 

Herod pondered in a troubled rest. 

He heard of deeds so wondrous and bold, 

Of a prophet speaking of truths untold. 

Whispers fluttered like leaves in the breeze, 

"Who is this man with power to seize? 

Could he be John, from the grave returned? 

Or Elijah, with fire in his heart I’ll spurn?" 

Yet in the midst of his doubting gaze, 

The truth, like a candle, ignites the haze. 

For in this man, the divine intertwines, 

A glimpse of the heavens in earthly designs. 

With questions swirling in the depths of night, 

Herod sought answers to set wrongs right. 

But the mystery cloaked in the miracles' sway, 

Left the strong in confusion, as truth slipped away. 

So we ponder still, beneath the wide sky, 

The echoes of faith that never will die. 

For in every moment, on each winding road, 

The questions of life lead us closer to God our abode. Amen.
