The Gospel of Luke Chapter 12 Verse 39 thru 48
39 Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” 41 Then Peter said, “Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?” 42 And the Lord replied, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute [the] food allowance at the proper time? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.44 Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. 45 But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 then that servant’s master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful. 47 That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely; 48 and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.
In Luke 12:39-48, Jesus shares a profound parable that underscores the importance of being vigilant and aware of the Lord's will. He likens Himself to a master who returns home unexpectedly, urging His followers to be prepared for His coming. The emphasis is clear: ignorance of the master's timing – or, by extension, the will of God – can lead to severe consequences. In verses 46-47, Jesus warns that the servant who knows his master's will but does not act accordingly will face harsh punishment. This serves as a stark reminder of the gravity of our spiritual responsibilities.
To be ignorant of the Lord’s will is not a mere oversight; it is a choice that can lead to detrimental consequences for one’s eternal life. Spiritual apathy or negligence in seeking God’s truth can result in a life unprepared for His return. In today’s fast-paced world, distractions abound, and many may find themselves spiritually asleep, oblivious to the urgency of living in accordance with God’s teachings.
Jesus’ words call us to action. They invite us to seek a deeper understanding of His will through prayer, scripture, and community. Every believer is entrusted with the responsibility to grow in faith and knowledge, ensuring that we are not caught unprepared when the Lord returns.
The consequences of ignorance are severe, impacting not just our earthly lives but potentially our eternal destinies. Therefore, let us commit ourselves to being watchful and engaged, striving to align our lives with God’s purpose. In doing so, we secure not only our own place in eternity but also serve as beacons of truth for others. Amen.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

Ephesians 6:17-20
10-22-2025 Luke 12 v3948
**The Servant Ignorant of His Master’s Will**
In the quiet of the night, when the stars begin to gleam,
A master left his household, to weave a distant dream.
He bids his servants watchful, lest they slumber in the dark,
For unexpected arrival could ignite a fateful spark.
The thief who comes in silence, with intentions veiled in shade,
Reminds us of our duty, our vigilance displayed.
So let us raise our lanterns, hearts aflame with hope's bright fire,
Awake, aware, and ready for what we may aspire.
The faithful steward managing all that his master trusts,
Will find a blessed promise, among the righteous just.
For every task entrusted, a reward shall be bestowed;
In the work of love and service, on this lifelong road.
Yet woe to those unfaithful, who think the time is long,
Who misuse the gifts they’ve been given, while the heart’s refrain sings wrong.
With harshness shall they be met, for their sloth has brought them low,
The path of careless living hides the truth they do not know.
To whom much is entrusted, much is surely required,
An echo of great purpose, igniting passion, inspired.
So rise up in your calling, let not the hour slip away,
For at the sound of the trumpet, we’ll face the reckoning day.
In each moment be mindful, aware of choices we make,
For the master's eyes are watching, as our hearts begin to wake.
With faithfulness and wisdom, let our lives brightly shine,
As we await the promise of love, and grace divine. Amen.
