The Gospel of Luke Ch 12 Verse 39 thru 48

39 Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. 40 You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”41 Then Peter said, “Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?” 42 And the Lord replied, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the master will put in charge of his servants to distribute [the] food allowance at the proper time? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so. 44 Truly, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. 45 But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat and drink and get drunk, 46 then that servant’s master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the unfaithful. 47 That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely; 48 and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.

In Luke 12:39-48, Jesus conveys a powerful message about responsibility and accountability through the parable of the faithful and wise steward. He emphasizes the expectation that those entrusted with greater resources, whether material wealth, leadership, or spiritual insight, will be held to higher standards. This teaching serves as a reminder of the seriousness of our commitments and the importance of how we manage what we have been given.

When Jesus says, "Much will be required of the person trusted with much, and even more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more," He highlights the principle of stewardship. Those who possess more—be it in talents, opportunities, or knowledge—bear a weightier responsibility to use those gifts wisely and for the benefit of others. This notion aligns with the kingdom perspective that calls individuals not only to be recipients of God's blessings but also to be active participants in His work.

The implications of this teaching are profound. It challenges us to reflect on what we have and how we are using it. Are we utilizing our resources and abilities to serve others and promote justice, love, and compassion? Alternatively, are we neglecting our duties or using our gifts for selfish ends?

Jesus’ words act as both a warning and an encouragement. They remind us that our actions matter and that we will be called to account for how we steward what has been entrusted to us. Thus, we should strive to be faithful stewards, knowing that our lives can have a lasting impact on those around us. Ultimately, understanding and embracing this call to responsibility can lead to a life of purpose and fulfillment in alignment with God's desires. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

10-21-2026 Luke 12 v3948

More Will Be Demanded of the Person Entrusted With More

In the twilight of the heart, a lesson unfolds,

As whispered truths in sacred scripture are told.

A steward awaits, with a task of his will,

For the Master shall come, and the faithful fulfill.

In the dark of the night, when shadows play,

The servant must guard, for the hour’s not his day.

Yet careless and lazy, some drift from their post,

Unaware of the thief, who will come like a ghost.

"Be ready," the whisper floats soft through the air,

For the Son of Man comes, with the heart of a prayer.

Should he find you awake, in devotion and grace,

Your reward shall be great, in that glorious place.

But woe to the steward, who winks at the time,

Who feasts and who gorges, while others to grime.

For much is expected when trust is bestowed,

To those given riches, the path may be strode.

The knowledge you hold, a treasure you’ll wield,

In the garden of service, your purpose revealed.

For when the Master returns, to each he'll compare,

The deeds done in darkness, the love we did share.

So stay ever watchful, your heart open wide,

Live in the light, let His mercy be your guide.

For the way that you serve, with the gifts you’ve been lent,

Reflects back the glory of the love that was spent.

In the tale of the steward, a promise so true,

That readiness shines in the faithful, the few.

Prepare for the coming, with each waking breath,

For life’s not just moments, but a dance over death. Amen.
