The Gospel of Luke Ch 11 Verse 15 thru 26
15 Some of them said, “By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he drives out demons.” 16 Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven. 17 But he knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste and house will fall against house. 18 And if Satan is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons. 19 If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own people drive them out? Therefore they will be your judges. 20 But if it is by the finger of God that [I] drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 21 When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe. 22 But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him, he takes away the armor on which he relied and distributes the spoils. 23 Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 24 “When an unclean spirit goes out of someone, it roams through arid regions searching for rest but, finding none, it says, ‘I shall return to my home from which I came.’ 25 But upon returning, it finds it swept clean and put in order. 26 Then it goes and brings back seven other spirits more wicked than itself who move in and dwell there, and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.”
In Luke 11:15-26, we witness a profound moment where Jesus addresses the accusations made against Him by some who claim He casts out demons by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons. Jesus, with humility and wisdom, counters this charge by explaining the illogical nature of such claims—how can a kingdom divided against itself stand? He emphasizes that if He is casting out demons by the finger of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among them.
This passage serves as a powerful reminder of the dichotomy present in our allegiance to Christ. Jesus states, “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” This declaration reveals the urgency of our decision to follow Him. In a world rife with distraction and division, it is critical to understand that neutrality or indecision regarding Jesus is, in essence, a choice against Him. The call to action is clear: we are either gathering people into the fold of God’s love and grace or scattering them away from Him.
Furthermore, the verses highlight the reality of spiritual warfare. Demons may have been cast out, but without a genuine relationship with Christ, they can return with greater force. This serves as a reminder that our spiritual lives need continual nurturing and reliance on Jesus to resist the enemy.
In a world of conflicting ideologies and beliefs, let us reaffirm our commitment to walk with Jesus, to gather in His name, and to spread His message of hope and redemption. As we stand with Him, we bolster the Kingdom of God, bringing light into darkness. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. Swept Clean And Put in Order
In the quiet shadows where whispers blend,
A tale unfolds, as thoughts ascend:
A house divided, a heart in strife,
A dance of darkness, a struggle for life.
In the streets, a rumor swirls,
As the crowd gathers, their wonder unfurls:
“By Beelzebub, he casts out the night,”
Yet wisdom speaks of a deeper light.
“Every kingdom, a fort held tight,
If turned against itself will lose the fight.
A strong man guards what’s his with might,
But when overthrown, comes the dawning light.”
Beware the silence, the void within,
For emptiness invites the bitter sin.
An evil spirit roams to a heart,
It seeks a home, a place to start.
Sevenfold darkness it brings along,
Where once was peace, now echoes wrong.
Yet hope remains for those who seek,
For in the struggle, the soul will speak.
So cast away doubts, let joy impart,
For love is stronger than the darkest heart.
Through faith and courage, the spirit shines,
In every shadow, His light aligns.
Thus let us gather, united we stand,
Expelling the darkness, hand in hand.
For in our hearts, the promise is clear,
With love and grace, we need not fear. Amen.
