The Book of Matthew 6 v- 7 thru 15

7 In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 “This is how you are to pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; 13 and do not subject us to the final test, but deliver us from the evil one. 14 If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.

In Matthew chapter six, verses seven through fifteen, Jesus offers profound wisdom on prayer and forgiveness, emphasizing the importance of humility and the relinquishment of control, especially in the context of family relationships.

Jesus begins with a directive on how to pray: "When you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words" (Matthew 6:7). This teaching underscores the value of humility in prayer. Instead of relying on elaborate and verbose petitions, Jesus encourages a simple, heartfelt approach, recognizing that "your Father knows what you need before you ask Him" (Matthew 6:8). This acknowledgment of God's wisdom invites us to approach Him with a humble heart, trusting in His understanding and provision.

The Lord's Prayer, which follows, is a model of humility and submission to God's will: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:9-10). This prayer calls us to prioritize God's kingdom and will over our own desires, a practice that cultivates humility and a spirit of surrender.

Forgiveness is another cornerstone of Jesus' teaching in these verses. He instructs us to pray, "And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors" (Matthew 6:12). Forgiveness requires humility, as it involves letting go of our grievances and extending grace, even when it is difficult. Jesus further emphasizes this in verses 14 and 15: "For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

In the context of family, these teachings can be particularly challenging. Family relationships often come with deep emotional ties and expectations, making it difficult to relinquish control and extend forgiveness. However, Jesus' words remind us that we cannot control others' actions or force them to change. Our role is to maintain a humble heart, continually entrusting our concerns to God and seeking His guidance.

When faced with family conflicts, we can draw strength from Jesus' example and teachings. By embracing humility in our prayers and interactions, we acknowledge our limitations and God's sovereignty. In forgiving our family members, we release the burden of bitterness and allow God's grace to heal our relationships. This continued zeal to give our struggles over to God is a testament to our faith and trust in His perfect plan. This is where we find Jesus’ teaching on prayer and forgiveness. The humility to let go and let God. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Teaching on Prayer and Forgiveness**

In the quiet of the heart, where whispers dwell,

Words of wisdom from Jesus tell:

"When you pray, do not babble like pagans do,

For your Father knows what you need before you ask Him what to do."

"Pray then in this way," He gently imparts,

With reverent words, from humble hearts:

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name,

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, all the same."

"Give us today our daily bread," we plea,

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive debtors freely."

"And lead us not into temptation's snare,

But deliver us from sins evil lair."

"For if you forgive others their trespasses true,

Your heavenly Father will also forgive you."

"But if you do not forgive," He did proclaim,

"Your Father in heaven will not forgive your transgressions the same."

In these sacred verses, a path we find,

A guide for the soul and a balm for the mind.

With hearts open wide, in prayer and grace,

We seek His kingdom and His holy place.

Words of Jesus, timeless and clear,

Teach us to live without worry or fear.

For in forgiving and in prayer's deep art,

We find the peace that dwells in God's heart. Amen.
