The Book of Genesis Chapter Two V- 15 and 17
15 The LORD God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it. 16 The LORD God gave the man this order: You are free to eat from any of the trees of the garden 17 except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From that tree you shall not eat; when you eat from it you shall die.
Genesis 2:15-17 provides profound insight into the nature of free will and the relationship between humanity and divine command. In these verses, God places Adam in the Garden of Eden, instructing him to tend to it while setting a pivotal command: he may eat from any tree except for one—the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warns that eating from this tree will lead to death.
This narrative illustrates the essence of free will. God creates humanity with the ability to choose, emphasizing that love and obedience cannot exist without the capacity to reject. The freedom to choose is foundational to human existence; it allows individuals to engage in a genuine relationship with God. The command not to eat from the tree serves as a test of loyalty and trust. Adam's choice reflects the broader human condition: the struggle between following divine guidance and succumbing to temptation.
The consequences of Adam's choice represent the contradiction between life and death. Obedience to God's command leads to the fullness of life—spiritual fulfillment, harmony, and communion with the Creator. Conversely, disobedience introduces the reality of death, symbolizing separation from God and the moral decay that follows. This choice underscores the gravity of free will: it is not merely an option but a pivotal decision with far-reaching implications.
In essence, Genesis 2:15-17 illustrates that free will is a divine gift that enables humans to choose life through adherence to God's commands or to face the consequences of death through disobedience. This foundational principle continues to resonate, reminding believers of the importance of choosing wisely in their spiritual journey. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**The Lord God Gave the Man this Order**
In Eden’s heart, where life unfolds,
A garden lush, with stories told,
God placed man in beauty's grace,
To tend the earth, his sacred place.
“From every tree, your feast awaits,
But heed this word, oh, guard the gates;
One fruit alone is not for thee,
For knowledge brings a weighty plea.”
In choice resides both life and death,
A breath of faith, a fleeting breath;
To follow light or wander blind,
In free will’s grasp, our fate aligned. Amen.
