The Gospel of John 17 Verses One thru Ten

1 When Jesus had said this, he raised his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you, 2 just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him. 3 Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. 4 I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do. 5 Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began.6 “I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, 8 because the words you gave to me I have given to them, and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you, and they have believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, 10 and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them.”

In John 17:1-10, we find ourselves in the midst of a profound and intimate prayer offered by Jesus just before His crucifixion. This passage highlights the essence of eternal life and the relationship between the Father, the Son, and believers. Jesus begins by lifting His eyes to heaven, acknowledging the power and glory of God as He prepares to fulfill His mission on earth. He prays not only for His impending sacrifice but also for those who will come to believe in Him through the message of His disciples.

In these verses, Jesus defines eternal life in striking clarity. He asserts that eternal life is knowing God, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom He has sent. This knowledge is not merely intellectual; it is a deeply personal relationship rooted in faith and acceptance. When we come to know God through Jesus, we enter into a transformative experience that transcends the bounds of mortal life. This intimate union leads to spiritual rejuvenation, peace, and ultimately, eternal life.

Moreover, Jesus emphasizes the glory He has shared with the Father, a glory that is bestowed upon believers as they engage in this relationship. Through His message, we understand that by accepting Jesus as the Savior of the world, we are not only embraced by His love but also invited into an everlasting relationship that shapes our identity and purpose.

As we reflect on John 17:1-10, let us remember that knowing God and accepting Jesus is the pathway to eternal life. This divine invitation calls us to deepen our relationship with Him, assuring us that in knowing Him, we discover the fullness of life now and forevermore. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

06-03-25 John 17 v0110

**Jesus said I pray for Them**

In the quiet hour, He lifts His gaze,

To heavenly heights, where glory stays,

Jesus, our Savior, prays with deep love,

For those He calls, as He looks above.

“Father, the time has come,” He speaks,

With a heart so full, for the world's most weak.

He seeks not just for the world to know,

But for souls to embrace the truth He'll show.

Eternal life, a precious gift,

In knowing You, our spirits uplift.

The only true God, we come to embrace,

With Jesus, our Savior, who took our place.

For in this union, our hearts align,

In love’s pure light, forever we shine.

He gave us His glory, a treasure divine,

That we might reflect His love through time.

As He walks the path of sacrifice,

His heart beats for us, a binding price.

In every prayer, His purpose is clear,

To draw us close, to banish all fear.

Let us linger in this sacred space,

Knowing the Father, filled with grace.

For in Jesus, our eternal hope,

We find our peace, our strength to cope.

Amen, we echo, as His love we find,

In knowing Him, our souls intertwined.

John’s words remind us, firm and bright,

In knowing God, we embrace the Light. Amen.
