The Prophet Jeremiah Chapter 1 Verse Four thru Ten

4 The word of the LORD came to me: 5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. 6 “Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am too young!” 7 But the LORD answered me, Do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you—oracle of the LORD. 9 Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying to me, See, I place my words in your mouth! 10 Today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, To uproot and to tear down, to destroy and to demolish, to build and to plant.

In Jeremiah 1:4-10, the Lord speaks to the prophet Jeremiah, outlining his divine calling and mission. The passage begins with a profound moment of revelation: God tells Jeremiah that He knew him before he was formed in the womb, emphasizing the sanctity and foreordained purpose of his life. This statement reveals that Jeremiah is not merely a product of chance but is intricately chosen for a specific prophetic role.

God then commissions Jeremiah with the task of being a prophet to the nations, indicating the universal scope of his message. The verses highlight Jeremiah's initial reluctance, as he expresses feelings of inadequacy and youthfulness. Nevertheless, God reassures him, declaring, “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.” This assurance points to God’s sovereignty in equipping and empowering His chosen vessels.

In a Christian context, Jeremiah’s calling can be seen as a foreshadowing of Christ's own mission. Just as God knew Jeremiah before his birth, the New Testament affirms that Jesus was chosen before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:20). While Jeremiah served as a prophet to communicate God’s messages of judgment and hope, Jesus embodies the fulfillment of God's promise of salvation and reconciliation.

The imagery of God touching Jeremiah's mouth and placing His words within him echoes the divine authority that Jesus carries as the Word made flesh (John 1:14). Thus, Jeremiah's commissioning serves as a precursor to Christ, who, through His life and ministry, brings the ultimate message of God’s love and redemption to all humanity. The passage encapsulates themes of divine purpose, empowering faith, and the continuity of God’s plan through His prophets, ultimately leading to the revelation of Christ. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Ephesians 6:17-20

06-24-2026 Jeremiah 1 v0410

**I Place My Words In Your Mouth**

In shadows deep, the word took flight,

A whisper soft, a call of light.

"Before you were formed, I knew your name,

In secret winds, I shaped your flame."

Jeremiah, young, with heart in awe,

Yet trembling before the sacred law.

"Alas, O Lord, I’m just a boy,

My tongue untrained, my voice a toy."

But from the heavens, a hand did reach,

A touch divine, a holy speech.

"You'll speak for nations, you'll break the night,

With truth as sword, and love as might."

"Go forth, my child, cast fear away,

I’ll guide your words, I’ll light the way.

To tear down walls and build anew,

To root out doubt and plant what's true."

So rise, young prophet, with heart ablaze,

In every shadow, let hope raise praise.

Your journey starts, with words to send,

For in your voice, My will they’ll comprehend. Amen.
