The 2nd Letter to the Corinthians 12 Verses One thru Ten
1 I must boast; not that it is profitable, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know someone in Christ who, fourteen years ago (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows), was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know that this person (whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows) 4 was caught up into Paradise and heard ineffable things, which no one may utter. 5 About this person I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses. 6 Although if I should wish to boast, I would not be foolish, for I would be telling the truth. But I refrain, so that no one may think more of me than what he sees in me or hears from me 7 because of the abundance of the revelations. Therefore, that I might not become too elated, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me, to keep me from being too elated. 8 Three times I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, 9 but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. 10 Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
In 2 Corinthians 12:1-10, the Apostle Paul shares about his own weaknesses and struggles, emphasizing a powerful truth: our vulnerabilities can lead us to deeper reliance on Christ. Paul recounts a vision of heaven and a “thorn in the flesh” that kept him humble. He writes, “For the sake of Christ, when I am weak, then I am strong,” illustrating how God’s grace is made perfect in our weaknesses.
This message resonates profoundly in the life of my wife, Toni. Some eight years ago, our family faced a harrowing experience when our oldest son was involved in a serious car accident that claimed his life but he was resuscitated on a life flight when he coded. In the aftermath, Toni and I were inundated with worry and fear, feeling overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation. Each day brought a wave of anxiety that pressed heavily on our hearts.
However, during a daily Mass shortly after the accident, this Scripture reading was from 2 Corinthians 12 was read. When Toni heard the powerful line, “For the sake of Christ, when I am weak then I am strong,” it struck her with clarity and gave us both a sense of peace. In that moment, the weight of her worries began to lift. She realized that God was inviting her to lay her fears down and to trust in His strength.
This revelation transformed our perspective. Rather than allowing the tragedy to consume us, we found a profound peace in our vulnerability. We recognized that it was in our weakness that we could experience God’s encompassing grace. Toni and I emerged from that experience not only with a renewed faith but also a deeper understanding of how God meets us in our struggles. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**In Christ When I Am Weak Then I Am Strong**
In visions bright, the heavens call,
A glimpse of glory, seen by Paul,
But thorns were there, to pierce the night,
To keep him humble, lead him right.
A messenger from depths of strife,
He bore the weight, this thorny life.
In struggle's grip, he learned to see,
His weakness paved the path to Thee.
"My grace is enough," the Lord proclaimed,
In every trial, His love unchained.
For in my frailty, I find my song,
When I am weak, in Him I am strong.
The burdens bear, I dare not hide,
For in my pain, He’s by my side.
In moments dark, His light will gleam,
He wraps my soul in hope's soft dream.
Paul's heart was stirred, as trials pressed,
In every wound, he found his rest.
A paradox where strength is shown,
In brokenness, God makes us whole.
So let us walk through fire and rain,
Through suffering’s depths, through joy and pain.
For in our lack, His purpose grows,
A testament of love that eternally glows.
With every thorn, a grace bestowed,
In weakness shared, His strength bestowed.
As we abide in faith’s embrace,
We flourish in Christ the light of grace. Amen.
