The Acts of the Apostles Chapter 15 Verse 7 thru 21
7 After much debate had taken place, Peter got up and said to them, “My brothers, you are well aware that from early days God made his choice among you that through my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts. 10 Why, then, are you now putting God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?11 On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they.” 12 The whole assembly fell silent, and they listened while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders God had worked among the Gentiles through them. 13 After they had fallen silent, James responded, “My brothers, listen to me. 14 Symeon has described how God first concerned himself with acquiring from among the Gentiles a people for his name. 15 The words of the prophets agree with this, as is written: 16 ‘After this I shall return and rebuild the fallen hut of David; from its ruins I shall rebuild it and raise it up again, 17 so that the rest of humanity may seek out the Lord, even all the Gentiles on whom my name is invoked. Thus says the Lord who accomplishes these things, 18 known from of old.’ 19 It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God, 20 but tell them by letter to avoid pollution from idols, unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals, and blood.21 For Moses, for generations now, has had those who proclaim him in every town, as he has been read in the synagogues every sabbath.”
Acts 15:7-21 recounts a pivotal moment in the early Church during the Jerusalem Council, where the apostles and elders gathered to resolve whether Gentile converts should be required to follow Jewish law. Peter, one of the leading apostles, stands up and passionately argues that salvation comes through the grace of Jesus Christ, not through the adherence to the Law. He reminds the assembly that God gave the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles, just as He did to the Jews, affirming that it is through faith alone that believers are saved.
This passage underscores a profound truth: God actively works signs and wonders among those who believe. Peter’s testimony serves as a powerful reminder that our faith, not our works, is what draws us into a relationship with God. Just as God demonstrated His love and power through miraculous signs in the lives of early believers, He continues to do so in us today.
In verse 8, Peter emphasizes the evidence of God's hand on the Gentiles’ lives by recounting how they received the Holy Spirit, showcasing that belief opens the door to divine encounters and miraculous transformation. We see that God's grace knows no bounds and that He desires a relationship with everyone, regardless of their background or history.
As we reflect on this scripture, we are reminded of the simplicity yet profound nature of belief. By simply believing in God's promises, we open ourselves to His power at work in our lives. Miracles happen when we place our trust in Him. So, let us cultivate a heart of faith, resting in the assurance that God delights in doing wonders among those who believe. Simply believe, and watch as God moves in extraordinary ways. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. Novena Day Eight for Ivanna Barrios for cancer. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**The Words of the Prophets Agree With This**
In a gathering of hearts, under the holy light,
The elders convened, through day and dark night.
An age-old tension weighed heavy and deep,
As Jews and the Gentiles sought answers to keep.
The voice of Peter, so bold and so clear,
Spoke of God’s grace, and the love we hold dear.
“Why test the Lord’s mercy by burdens of weight?
For we are all saved through the same open gate.”
The whispers of doubt from the crowd set the tone,
As memories of law felt etched in their bone.
Yet love shattered walls, with a promise so grand,
That Gentiles would gather, united we stand.
James rose with wisdom, a leader so strong,
Recalling Old Scriptures, where all could belong.
“From nations, a remnant, God’s heart revealed,
He draws us together, our fates all unsealed.”
A letter was crafted, with words of pure peace,
No chains of the law, but a call to release.
To love and to honor, with grace as our guide,
A journey together, with Christ at our side.
So they gathered their courage, and ventured afar,
To spread the sweet tidings where hope like a star.
Acts of the heart echo still through our days,
In unity, grace, we walk in His ways. Amen.
