The Book of Matthew 18 v- One thru Five

1 At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a child over, placed it in their midst, 3 and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives Me.

Jesus teaches His disciples about the significance of humility by using the example of a child. Who is more humble than a child? The disciples ask Him who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, and in response, Jesus calls a child to Him, stating that unless they become like little children, they will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This profound lesson underscores the essence of humility and its paramount importance in spiritual life.

Children embody a genuine purity and innocence that often gets overshadowed in adulthood. They approach the world with curiosity, trust, and an openness that is essential for spiritual growth. In their simplicity, children demonstrate a lack of pretense and self-importance, qualities that Jesus values highly. By emphasizing the need to become like children, Jesus invites believers to shed their pride, ego, and worldly ambitions, which often cloud their spiritual vision.

Moreover, humility fosters a profound sense of dependence on God. Children rely on their parents for guidance, provision, and protection, mirroring the relationship believers should have with their Heavenly Father. This dependence is a recognition of human limitations and an acknowledgment of divine sovereignty, which is crucial for receiving grace and entering the Kingdom.

Additionally, Jesus highlights that welcoming a child in His name is akin to welcoming Him as well. This teaches us that humility is not only about how we perceive ourselves but also how we treat others, especially the vulnerable and marginalized. Embracing humility leads to a community of love, acceptance, and support, reflecting the values of the Kingdom of Heaven. In summary, being humble like a child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, as it embodies trust, dependence on God, and a loving attitude toward others, aligning with the heart of Christ’s teachings. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

08-13-2024 Matthew 18 V-0105

**Humility like a Child is greatest in Heaven**

Who is the greatest? The disciples inquire,

In their hearts, ambition, a burning desire.

But Jesus, so gentle, calls forth a child,

With innocence shining, pure and unbeguiled.

“Unless you become like these little ones,

You’ll miss the Kingdom where true joy runs.

For in humble hearts, where pride has no place,

You’ll find the entrance to Kingdom’s grace.”

Oh, to be childlike, with wonder and trust,

To lean on the Father, in Him we must fuss.

With eyes wide in awe at the world’s simple grace,

In faith’s tender arms, we find our true place.

For children are open, their spirits alive,

In their laughter and love, the Kingdom does thrive.

They welcome the weary, they cherish the small,

In their gentle embrace, we find love for all.

So let us remember, as we walk this way,

To carry humility, come what may.

For in serving each other, in love’s gentle call,

We find the heart of the Kingdom, embracing us all.

In a world full of noise, let us quietly strive,

To be humble like children, and truly be alive.

For the greatest among us, in Heaven’s sweet light,

Are those who find strength in the meekness of night. Amen.
