The Letter to the Hebrews Chapter 10 Verse 1 thru 14
1 Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of them, it can never make perfect those who come to worship by the same sacrifices that they offer continually each year. 2 Otherwise, would not the sacrifices have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer have had any consciousness of sins? 3 But in those sacrifices there is only a yearly remembrance of sins, 4 for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins. 5 For this reason, when he came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight in. 7 Then I said, ‘As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God.’” 8 First he says, “Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither desired nor delighted in.” These are offered according to the law. 9 Then he says, “Behold, I come to do your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second. 10 By this “will,” we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took his seat forever at the right hand of God; 13 now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated.
Hebrews 10:1-14 serves as a theological exposition on the nature of Christ's sacrifice in relation to the Old Testament sacrificial system. The passage begins by asserting that the law, with its sacrifices and rituals, was merely a shadow of the good things to come, unable to bring true perfection. The annual repetition of sacrifices illustrates their inadequacy, as they could not cleanse the conscience of the offeror or provide lasting redemption.
In verse 4, it states, "It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins," pointing to the inherent limitations of these animal sacrifices. The author then transitions to quoting Psalm 40:6-8, emphasizing that God desires obedience and a responsive heart over ritualistic offerings. This highlights a shift from external compliance to internal transformation, suggesting that God seeks a relationship with His people rather than mere fulfillment of the law.
The core of the passage is found in verses 10-12, where it proclaims that Christ's sacrifice is once and for all. Unlike the repeated sacrifices of the past, Jesus, through His one offering, has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. This underscores the completeness of His work, which not only provides forgiveness but also initiates a process of sanctification in the believer's life.
Verses 13-14 conclude with a powerful affirmation of Christ’s authority and efficacy, as He sits at the right hand of God, waiting until all His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. This positions Christ not just as a sacrificial lamb but as a sovereign Lord, reinforcing His supremacy in the redemptive narrative. Overall, this passage encapsulates the transition from the old covenant of law to the new covenant of grace, emphasizing Christ’s definitive role in salvation. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Novena Day Four for Repose of the Soul of Mike Bartlett and Tommy Bartlett. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**He Waits Until His Enemies Become His Footstool**
In shadows cast by ancient law,
A fleeting glimpse, a holy draw,
The sacrifices, countless, piled,
Yet from their toil the heart reviled.
For every lamb and every dove,
Could never show the depth of love;
Though solemn rites and blood did flow,
The perfect vision hid below.
Now comes the One, the final plea,
The mirror of eternal divinity;
In flesh He walks, our sins He’d repair,
A single offering, pure, laid bare.
Once for all time, the price is paid,
No more the altars, blood displayed;
With open arms, He claims the throne,
In mercy’s grasp, we’re not alone.
This new and living way breaks through,
A covenant, forever to be true;
With hearts made whole, our spirits soar,
To seek the love that’s evermore.
For by His will, we’re sanctified,
In grace abide, with hope our guide;
A tapestry of faith truly unfolds,
In Christ, our story, bright and bold.
So let us draw near, hearts set aflame,
In unity, we praise His Holy Name;
For though our past may shadow long,
His love transforms, makes us strong.
With every breath, we testify,
In Him, we live, in Him, we die;
The perfect sacrifice, holy divine,
In Him, through faith, we intertwine. Amen.
