The Book of Mark 5 v- 25 thru 29

There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years. She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors and had spent all that she had. Yet she was not helped but only grew worse. She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak. She said, "If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured." Immediately her flow of blood dried up. She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.

The passage from Mark 5:25-29 tells the poignant and powerful story of a woman who had been suffering from a debilitating condition for twelve long years. Her ailment, a chronic issue of bleeding, rendered her not only physically weakened but also socially and religiously ostracized due to the purity laws of the time. Despite her desperate attempts to find healing through physicians and various treatments, her condition only worsened, leaving her destitute and in despair. This narrative serves as a profound testament to faith, perseverance, and the transformative power of encountering Jesus.

In the midst of a bustling crowd, Jesus was on His way to heal Jairus' daughter when the woman, driven by sheer desperation and unwavering faith, decided to take a bold step. She had heard of Jesus' miraculous healings and believed that even the slightest touch of His garment could bring her the healing she so desperately sought. Her faith was not merely an abstract belief but a force compelling her to action, pushing her through the throng despite her weakened state.

The act of her reaching out to touch Jesus' cloak was fraught with significance. Socially, she was taking a great risk; her condition made her 'unclean' according to Jewish law, and her touch would render others unclean as well. Yet, her faith transcended these barriers. Her touch was an act of profound faith and vulnerability, a silent cry for mercy and restoration. The moment her fingers grazed the hem of His garment, she felt a surge of healing power course through her body. Instantly, her bleeding stopped, and she knew she was healed.

Jesus' reaction to this unseen act of faith is deeply telling. He immediately sensed that power had gone out from Him and asked, "Who touched My clothes?" His question was not born out of ignorance but was an invitation for the woman to step forward and publicly acknowledge her faith. Trembling, she fell at His feet and confessed the whole truth. Far from rebuking her, Jesus tenderly addressed her as "Daughter," affirming her identity and worth. He declared, "Your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

This interaction highlights several profound themes. First, it underscores the power of faith—faith that moves beyond mere belief to action. Second, it shows Jesus' compassion and His willingness to restore not just physical health but also social and spiritual wholeness. Lastly, it illustrates the personal nature of Jesus' miracles; He not only heals but also seeks a personal relationship with the healed. Are you in need of healing? Reach out and touch Jesus in your heart and know by faith He can and will heal you. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

**Healing the Bleeding Woman**

In the bustling crowd, she moved with silent grace,

A woman weary, burdened by her silent chase.

Twelve long years, she'd suffered, her hope worn thin,

Spent all she had, yet healing seemed a distant win.

Doctors' hands and remedies, none could set her free,

Her faith, though fragile, held a whispered plea.

"If I but touch His garment, just the hem alone,

Perhaps I'll find the healing, and peace I've never known."

Through the throng she pressed, her heart a fervent beat,

Each step a prayer, each breath a quiet feat.

Fingers trembling, reaching out in sacred quest,

She touched His robe, and her spirit found its rest.

In that fleeting moment, power surged anew,

Her suffering ceased, His love and grace broke through.

"Who touched My clothes?" He asked, though surely He did know,

But she, now healed and trembling, came forth to show.

"Daughter, your faith has healed you," His gentle voice proclaimed,

Her silent plea had found its answer, her faith no longer maimed.

In the crowded stillness, a miracle unfurled,

A testament to faith, in a weary, waiting world. Amen.
