The Book of Genesis Chapter One V- One and Five

1 In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth—2 and the earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters—3 Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good. God then separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” Evening came, and morning followed—the first day.

Genesis 1:1-5 serves as a profound introduction to the biblical narrative, presenting the creation of the world by God. The verses state, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth," emphasizing the belief in a divine creator who exists outside of creation itself. This foundational passage affirms the Catholic Church's teaching that God is the ultimate source of all existence, underscoring His omnipotence and intentionality in the act of creation.

The Church interprets these verses not just as a historical account but as a theological statement about the nature of God and His relationship with the world. The phrase "Let there be light" signifies the introduction of order and goodness into what was initially formless and void, highlighting the belief that creation is fundamentally good, as reiterated in subsequent verses. The distinction between light and darkness further symbolizes the dualities inherent in creation, where light represents goodness and divine presence, while darkness often symbolizes chaos and sin.

Catholic teaching emphasizes that the creation narrative is not meant to be taken as a scientific explanation but as a spiritual and moral lesson. It invites believers to recognize God's sovereignty and the inherent goodness of the world He created. The concept of the Sabbath rest on the seventh day introduces the idea of sanctity in time, a theme that resonates throughout Catholic liturgical life.

Moreover, the Church sees the creation narrative as setting the stage for humanity's role within creation. Made in the image of God, humans are called to stewardship over creation, reflecting God's creative nature and fostering a relationship with Him and His creation. Overall, Genesis 1:1-5 encapsulates key themes of faith, creation, and divine purpose that are central to Catholic belief and the understanding of God’s relationship with the world. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. The Soul of my sister-in-law Carmen. Death Uncle Donald. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

02-10-2025 Genesis 1 v0105

**God Called the Light Day**

In the beginning, darkness lay,

A void where silence held its sway,

Then spoke the Word, “Let there be light,”

And chaos bowed to radiant sight.

The heavens danced, the earth took form,

From nothingness, a world was born,

With every star and whispered breeze,

God’s hand-crafted wonders, meant to please.

Light pierced the night, a sacred divide,

Goodness and grace forever reside,

In this creation, a story unfolds,

Of love and purpose, in rhythms bold. Amen.
