The Letter to the Hebrews Chapter 2 V- 14 through 18

14 Now since the children share in blood and flesh, he likewise shared in them, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and free those who through fear of death had been subject to slavery all their life. 16 Surely he did not help angels but rather the descendants of Abraham; 17 therefore, he had to become like his brothers in every way, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest before God to expiate the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself was tested through what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested.

Hebrews 2:14-18 beautifully encapsulates the profound mercy of Jesus and His triumph over sin and death. The verses remind us that, through His incarnation, Jesus shared in our humanity. By becoming fully human, He not only experienced our struggles but also overcame them, ultimately destroying the power of death and the devil. This act of mercy is foundational to our faith, as it assures us that Jesus understands our weaknesses and temptations.

The text emphasizes that Jesus' suffering was purposeful. By enduring trials and temptations, He became the perfect source of help for those who are being tested. This highlights the importance of daily spiritual practices: reading the Bible, praying, and proclaiming the Gospel. Engaging with Scripture allows us to internalize the truths of God's mercy and guidance, equipping us to navigate our own struggles. Daily reading fosters a deeper understanding of Jesus' sacrifice and His call to live in righteousness.

Prayer, described in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 as "pray without ceasing," is vital in maintaining a close relationship with God. It is through prayer that we seek strength, wisdom, and courage to resist sin and embody Christ-like love, even in the face of anger and retribution. Jesus' example teaches us to respond to our challenges with grace and mercy.

Furthermore, the proclamation of the Gospel serves as a powerful antidote against negativity and bitterness. Speaking the truth of Christ's love and forgiveness empowers us to rise above our circumstances, transforming our hearts.

In conclusion, Hebrews 2:14-18 not only affirms Jesus' victory over sin but also encourages us to embrace mercy through daily practices of Bible reading, prayer, and proclamation. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Ephesians 6:17-20

01-14-2025 Hebrews 2 v1418

**To Expiate the Sins of the People**

In shadows deep, where fears abide,

The Son of Man, our Savior, cried.

He took our flesh, He wore our plight,

To bring us hope, to be our light.

In kindness wrapped, He faced the night,

Defeating death, our darkest fright.

With every trial, He stood so tall,

For in His love, we find our all.

He shared our struggle, bore our shame,

The tempter's whispers, He overcame.

In every tear and every sigh,

He felt our pain; He is nearby.

His mercy flows like rivers wide,

In His embrace, we can always abide.

Through prayer, we seek His guiding hand,

In daily grace, together we stand.

With Scripture's truth, our hearts ignite,

Proclaiming love, dispelling night.

For anger fades where mercy reigns,

In Christ alone, our hope remains.

So let us walk, though trials may come,

With faith unshaken, our hearts as one.

For in His strength, we find our way,

In Jesus' name, we rise each day. Amen.
