The 1st Letter of John Chapter 5 Verse One thru Twelve
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten by God, and everyone who loves the father loves [also] the one begotten by him. 2 In this way we know that we love the children of God when we love God and obey his commandments.3 For the love of God is this, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4 for whoever is begotten by God conquers the world. And the victory that conquers the world is our faith.5 Who [indeed] is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is the one who came through water and blood, Jesus Christ, not by water alone, but by water and blood. The Spirit is the one that testifies, and the Spirit is truth.7 So there are three that testify, 8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood, and the three are of one accord. 9 If we accept human testimony, the testimony of God is surely greater. Now the testimony of God is this, that he has testified on behalf of his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar by not believing the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever possesses the Son has life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:1-12 emphasizes the profound truth of eternal life granted to believers through the recognition of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. The passage begins by affirming that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, illustrating the intimate relationship between faith and divine lineage. This belief extends beyond mere acknowledgment; it encompasses a deep-seated trust and love for God and His commandments.
The Apostle John emphasizes that love for God is intrinsically linked to obedience to His commandments. True love for God manifests through our adherence to His will, reflecting a heart transformed by the truth of His Son. The text reassures believers that these commandments are not burdensome; rather, they are an expression of love and a pathway to understanding the life God desires for us.
Verses 4 and 5 highlight victory over the world through our faith. By recognizing Jesus as the Son of God, we embrace a transformative truth—He has conquered sin and death, granting us eternal life. This life is not a distant hope but a present reality for those who believe. John further establishes the credibility of this truth through the testimony of the Spirit, the water, and the blood, underscoring the unshakeable assurance believers have in Christ.
Finally, in verses 11 and 12, we are reminded that God has given us eternal life through His Son. This gift is accessible to all who believe, inviting us into a relationship marked by assurance and peace. Recognizing Jesus as our Savior secures our identity as children of God and affirms our eternal destiny. Embrace this truth, for it is through Christ that we find life abundant and everlasting. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Whoever Possesses The Son Has Life**
In love, we are reborn anew,
Born of the Spirit, pure and true.
Whoever believes that Jesus is,
God's Son, our Savior, in Him we live.
For love of God is not a chore,
But keeping His commands, forevermore.
In loving deeds, we rise above,
Our hearts reflect His boundless love.
Our faith, a shield against the night,
Overcomes the world with radiant light.
Each victory won, through grace bestowed,
In Christ, our path to life is showed.
Who is it that conquers, strong and bold?
The one who believes in truths foretold.
The water and blood, a witness they bear,
In unity, they proclaim they eternally care.
Eternal life, within Him found,
The Son of God, on holy ground.
He who has the Son, has life divine,
In Him, we trust, our hearts entwine.
So lift your voice, proclaim His name,
In faith and love, we share the flame.
For in these verses, hope resides,
In Christ alone, our joy abides. Amen.
