The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Ch 3 Verse 18 thru 23

18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you considers himself wise in this age, let him become a fool so as to become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God, for it is written: “He catches the wise in their own ruses,” 20 and again: “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.” 21 So let no one boast about human beings, for everything belongs to you, 22 Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or the present or the future: all belong to you, 23 and you to Christ, and Christ to God.

In 1 Corinthians 3:18-23, the Apostle Paul addresses the issue of worldly wisdom versus divine wisdom, urging believers to reconsider their understanding of what it means to be wise. He says, "Let him become a fool that he may be wise," highlighting a provocative paradox: the path to true wisdom often requires one to reject the conventional wisdom of the world.

Paul emphasizes that the wisdom of this world is, in fact, foolishness to God. This statement challenges the Corinthians, who were heavily influenced by Greek philosophy and cultural ideals. In their pursuit of wisdom, they were valuing human knowledge and eloquence over spiritual insight. Paul argues that true wisdom comes from a relationship with God and is characterized by humility, reliance on divine revelation, and a willingness to perceive life through God's perspective.

When Paul encourages believers to embrace a "foolish" stance in the eyes of the world, he is not advocating for ignorance or foolishness in the traditional sense. Instead, he is inviting them to forego pride and self-sufficiency, which often masquerade as wisdom in secular contexts. To become a "fool" means to abandon the self-aggrandizing pursuit of worldly accolades and to lean into God's guidance and understanding.

Ultimately, Paul reminds the Corinthians (and us) that all things are theirs through Christ, who holds ultimate authority and wisdom. Recognizing our place in the grand narrative of God’s creation frees us from the need to compete for recognition and status. By embracing God’s wisdom, believers find their true identity and purpose, living in harmony with the divine will rather than the fleeting values of human society. Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

No One Boast About Human Beings

In the heart of Corinth, wisdom abounds, 

Yet Paul speaks gently, where folly surrounds. 

"Let none deceive you," he earnestly writes, 

For wisdom of this world dims truth's sacred lights. 

If anyone thinks they are wise in their way, 

Let them become foolish to find the light of day. 

For the wisdom of God, in folly's disguise, 

Surpasses all knowledge, unveils the wise. 

The earth and its rulers, they rise and they fall, 

Yet in Christ’s embrace, we are heirs of it all. 

All things are yours, take joy and take claim, 

Whether Paul, Apollos, or Cephas by name. 

"All belong to you," is the truth you now hold, 

In the tapestry woven, your story unfolds. 

For we are in Christ, and He is in God, 

Together in unity, we walk where He trod. Amen.
