The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Ch 3 Verse 1 thru 9

1 Brothers, I could not talk to you as spiritual people, but as fleshly people, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you milk, not solid food, because you were unable to take it. Indeed, you are still not able, even now, 3 for you are still of the flesh. While there is jealousy and rivalry among you, are you not of the flesh, and behaving in an ordinary human way? 4 Whenever someone says, “I belong to Paul,” and another, “I belong to Apollos,” are you not merely human? 5 What is Apollos, after all, and what is Paul? Ministers through whom you became believers, just as the Lord assigned each one. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. 7 Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who causes the growth. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters are equal, and each will receive wages in proportion to his labor. 9 For we are God’s co-workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

In 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, the Apostle Paul addresses the early Church in Corinth, a community struggling with divisions and a lack of spiritual maturity. He speaks to them as spiritual infants, highlighting their reliance on human wisdom and allegiances to different leaders. Paul emphasizes the futility of such divisions, reminding them that it is not the human leaders—whether Paul or Apollos—who should take the credit, but God alone.

Paul uses the metaphor of agriculture to illustrate this profound truth. He writes that he planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but ultimately, it is God who gives the growth. This underscores a vital spiritual principle: while human effort and ministry are important, it is God’s sovereignty and grace that bring about transformation and maturity in the lives of believers.

This passage calls us to humility and unity, as we recognize that every individual who surrenders to God's will in Christ Jesus is nurtured by His divine hand. The growth we experience in faith—be it in understanding, love, or service—is solely a result of God’s work within us. Paul concludes with the reminder that we are God’s fellow workers, and the Church is God’s field and building. This language of partnership encourages believers to engage in ministry, but always with the recognition that God is at the center of all growth.

As we reflect on these verses, let us be reminded that true spiritual growth comes from God alone. When we surrender ourselves to His will, it is He who cultivates our hearts and minds, allowing us to bear fruit for His kingdom. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

We Are God’s Co-Workers

In Corinth's heart where shadows lay, 

The words of Paul were meant to sway, 

He spoke of hearts, both rich and frail, 

Of truth and love, of hope's great sail. 

"I cannot feed you solid food," 

He said, "for in your childish hood, 

Your minds are stuck in worldly strife, 

Yet strive for more, embrace this life!" 

As soil provided, plant and grow, 

In God's vast garden, seeds we sow, 

Some water dreams, some nurture light, 

But God alone brings forth the Might. 

Each worker's toil, a piece of grace, 

In unity, we run the eternal race, 

For every heart’s a sacred plot, 

In love's embrace, forget me not. 

We build on Christ, the cornerstone, 

Through Him, the truth of God is known, 

Together in this field we forever strive, 

As one in spirit, we’re always alive. 

So let us rise with purpose clear, 

Embrace the call, let love draw near, 

For in the harvest, joy will sing, 

In unity, our voices of Salvation bring. Amen.
