The 1st Letter to the Corinthians Ch 2 Verse One thru Five

1 When I came to you, brothers, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling, 4 and my message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, 5 so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.

In 1 Corinthians 2:1-5, the Apostle Paul emphasizes the profound difference between human wisdom and the divine power of God. Paul, known for his intellectual prowess and eloquence, deliberately chose to come to the Corinthians not with lofty words or persuasive rhetoric, but with a simple yet powerful message—the testimony of Jesus Christ crucified. He recognizes that the true strength of his ministry lies not in human persuasion or wisdom but in the demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

Paul’s approach reminds us that our reliance on human intellect and eloquence is often futile in the face of God’s infinite wisdom and authority. He underscores that faith is not rooted in the wisdom of man but in the power of God. This is a vital lesson for us today; we live in a world saturated with philosophical debates and persuasive arguments, yet none of these can compare to the transformative power of God’s message.

The Corinthians were swayed by the allure of eloquent speech and deep knowledge, yet Paul challenges this notion. He urges them to focus not on human wisdom but on the simplicity and truth of the Gospel. In doing so, he points to the real source of transformation and strength: the Holy Spirit. When we encounter God’s truth, it is not by human persuasion but through the supernatural work of the Spirit, which authenticates the message and changes lives.

Ultimately, our faith should be founded on the power of God, recognizing that human wisdom will always fall short. Let us remember that it is through His strength, not our own, that we access the deep truths of God. Amen.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Not On Human Wisdom

In words of wisdom, Paul did share, 

A message rooted in heartfelt care, 

He came not in eloquence or grand display, 

But in humility, guiding the eternal way. 

With trembling hands and a spirit low, 

He preached of Christ, the Savior we know, 

Not with the cleverness of man’s own mind, 

But with God’s power, pure faith, and love intertwined. 

He chose to know but one thing clear, 

Jesus Christ, without doubt, held near; 

In the crucible of weakness, strength would bloom, 

God's spirit poured forth, dispelling all gloom. 

For faith, not in man, but in God’s decree, 

Transforms the hearts and sets the soul free; 

In simple truths, profound and deep, 

Lies the promise of hope that we faithfully keep. 

So let us gather, inspired by his grace, 

To share this love, in every place; 

For in our weakness, His power shines bright, 

A testament to faith, lifting souls to the light. Amen.
