The 1st Letter to the Corinthians  Chapter 1 Verse 26 thru 31

26 Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong, 28 and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something, 29 so that no human being might boast before God. 30 It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.”

In 1 Corinthians 1:25-31, the Apostle Paul powerfully underscores a profound truth about the nature of God's wisdom and strength. He writes, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” This paradox lays the foundation for understanding the Christian faith, where God often chooses the vulnerable and the humble to accomplish His purposes.

Paul reminds us that God’s ways are not aligned with worldly expectations. In our society, we are often impressed by the strong, the capable, and the wise. Yet, time and again, Scripture tells us that God delights in using the weak and the foolish to confound the strong. This divine strategy reveals His sovereignty and grace; it calls the proud to reconsider their reliance on human wisdom and strength.

Moreover, Paul continues by emphasizing that those who boast should “boast in the Lord.” This means that our achievements, qualifications, and status are of little worth compared to knowing and being known by God. It is through faith in Christ, and not through human merit, that we find our identity and value.

In our lives, let us remember that God can work powerfully through our weaknesses. When we feel inadequate or outmatched, it is precisely then that we can see the hand of God working. As we lean on Him, we reflect His grace and truth to the world. Let us rejoice and boast only in the Lord, for it is in our humility that His strength is made perfect. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Whoever Boasts Should Boast In The Lord

In whispered words, the wisdom flows, 

From hidden depths where grace bestows, 

For all the wise, their thoughts confound, 

In foolishness, true strength is found. 

The wise and strong, in worldly might, 

Are dwarfed by love's soft, radiant light. 

In weakness, glory’s face does shine, 

The humble heart in truth divine. 

God chose the lowly, vessels meek, 

To brush aside the proud and sleek. 

For in the shadows, light breaks free, 

His foolish ways, the wise can't see. 

From dust and ash, the lowly rise, 

To claim the promise, touch the skies. 

In Christ, our hope, our roots are found, 

In Him alone, our lives abound. 

Let boastful hearts be silenced here, 

For every grace brings us near. 

In humble truth, we'll stand as one, 

With praises sung for His Only Divine Son. Amen.
