The Letter of James 3 v- 16 thru 18
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without inconstancy or insincerity. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for those who cultivate peace.
James 3:16-18 presents profound insights into the nature of wisdom and its impact on human relationships and community. In these verses, James contrasts two types of wisdom: earthly and heavenly. The earthly wisdom is characterized by jealousy and selfish ambition, leading to chaos and moral decay. This highlights how motivations driven by envy and desire for personal gain can disrupt harmony and create strife within communities. It serves as a cautionary reminder of the destructive nature of such attitudes.
Conversely, the wisdom that comes from above is depicted as virtuous and constructive. It is marked by purity, peace, gentleness, and a willingness to engage in thoughtful dialogue. This type of wisdom encourages mercy and produces good fruits, suggesting that genuine understanding and compassion can lead to positive outcomes. The emphasis on being "impartial and sincere" underscores the importance of integrity and honesty in interactions with others.
The final thought in these verses, about the "harvest of righteousness," encapsulates the predominant message: those who pursue peace and embody heavenly wisdom contribute to a just and harmonious society. The harvest metaphor implies that the actions and attitudes we cultivate—whether rooted in selfishness or peace—will ultimately yield corresponding results in our lives and communities.
In essence, James 3:16-18 calls for a reflection on our motivations and the kind of wisdom we embody, urging us to choose paths that foster peace, righteousness, and genuine connection with others. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Pure First is Wisdom Full of Mercy**
In shadows cast by selfish dreams,
Where jealousy and ugly discord gleam,
Disorder reigns, vile practices spread,
A heart divided, where peace has fled.
But from above, a wisdom flows,
Pure and gentle, like the smell of a rose,
Peaceable, open, full of grace,
In humble hearts, it finds its place.
With mercy rich, and fruits so good,
Impartial, sincere, as wisdom should,
It whispers softly, guides the way,
Turning night into a joyful day.
A harvest sown in fields of peace,
Where love abounds, and strife will cease,
For those who seek to mend and heal,
In quiet strength, their hearts reveal.
So let us choose the path of light,
Embrace the wisdom, banish night,
For in our hands, we hold the key,
To build a world where all are free. Amen.
