The Gospel of Matthew Chapter 19 Verses 23 thru 30
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, “Who then can be saved?” 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” 27 Then Peter said to him in reply, “We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
In Matthew 19:24-30, Jesus illustrates the challenging yet profound concept of wealth and the kingdom of heaven. He states, “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” This vivid imagery highlights the spiritual burdens that often accompany material wealth. Wealth can easily distract us from our spiritual journey, anchoring our hearts to worldly pursuits and desires.
Following this startling declaration, His disciples express their astonishment, asking, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus reassures them that what is impossible for man is possible for God. This divine affirmation emphasizes that salvation is within reach for all, regardless of their earthly status, provided they are willing to let go of their attachments to material excess.
Jesus then offers a profound promise: for those who leave behind the comforts of this world—whether it be homes, family, or possessions—He guarantees a bountiful reward. He assures us that “everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” This promise speaks to the heart of our Christian faith—that by prioritizing our relationship with God over material wealth, we align ourselves with His eternal kingdom.
In a world often fixated on accumulation and success, Jesus beckons us to a more profound truth: our ultimate inheritance lies not in earthly possessions but in the richness of eternal life with Him. By surrendering the excess and seeking Him first, we embrace a promise that transcends this life and secures our place in the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Many Who Are First Will Be Last**
In a town where whispers filled the air,
A tale was told, of riches rare,
“Hard for the wealthy to enter,” He said,
A camel’s plight echoed in hearts and dread.
For treasures of gold can weigh us down,
Binding our spirits, stealing the crown,
Yet Jesus affirmed, with love in His gaze:
True wealth is found in eternal praise.
“Give up your comforts, lay down your trust,
In worldly excess, there’s little that’s just.
For those who forsake what this life can bring,
Will find in My kingdom, their hearts start to sing.”
“Leave houses and brothers, for My sacred name,
And you’ll reap a harvest, untainted by shame.
A hundredfold blessings in this life you’ll see,
And eternal life’s promise, forever with Me.”
In the dance of surrender, our treasure we find,
The burdens of riches replaced with the kind,
For love that is given can never run dry,
In the arms of the Savior, our spirits will fly.
So let go of the chains that this world often weaves,
Embrace the good news, for His heart never leaves.
In the eye of the needle, the path may seem tight,
But through faith and surrender, we step into light. Amen.
