The Letter to the Philippians 2 V- Five and Eleven
5 Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, 6 Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. 7 Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, 8 he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. 9 Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:5-11 presents a powerful and profound message about the humility and exaltation of Jesus Christ. The verses call us to adopt the mindset of Christ, who, despite His divine nature, chose to humble Himself by taking on human form and becoming obedient to the point of death on the cross. This radical act of selflessness not only exemplifies the love and humility expected of all believers but also underscores the ultimate sacrifice made for humanity. As a result of His obedience, God exalted Jesus, giving Him the name above all names, so that every knee should bow and every tongue confess His lordship.
This scriptural passage deeply resonates within the Catholic tradition, where acts of reverence, such as bowing one’s head at the mention of Jesus' name or kneeling upon entering a church, reflect the profound respect and honor due to Him. Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Tabernacle, where He resides in the Eucharist, nourishing and sustaining the faithful. This belief emphasizes the sacredness of His presence and the importance of showing reverence when acknowledging His name.
My wife, Toni, exemplifies this practice of honor and devotion. Every time she hears the name of Jesus, she bows her head, a gesture that signifies her recognition of His divine authority and love. In doing so, she participates in the broader Catholic tradition that honors Jesus Christ, the Lord of Heaven and Earth. This practice not only fosters a deep personal connection with Christ but also unites the faithful in a shared expression of worship and reverence for the one who humbled Himself for our sake. Through these gestures, we acknowledge His magnificence and the transformative power of His love in our lives. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**Every Knee Should Bend at the Name of Jesus**
In humble heart, let wisdom grow,
Adopt the mind of Christ, we all should know.
Though in the form of God He stood,
He chose to serve, to do us good.
From heaven's throne to earth He came,
His life a beacon, love aflame.
He took our flesh, our burdens bore,
In silent grace, He opened doors.
Obedient unto death’s cruel strife,
He gave His all, the gift of life.
A crown of thorns, the cross He bore,
To lift us up, to heal the score.
Now every knee shall bow in awe,
Before the name that breaks the law.
The name of Jesus, pure and bright,
In Him, we find our hope, our light.
Exalted high, our Savior reigns,
In every heart, His love remains.
With every tongue, we shout His praise,
Forever grateful for His Salvation gaze.
So let us walk in love and grace,
Reflect His heart in every place.
With minds of Christ, we rise above,
In humble service, we share His love. Amen.
