The Gospel of Luke Chapter 14 V- 11 and 14

11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” 12 Then Jesus said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment. 13 Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; 14 blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

In Luke 14:11-14, Jesus teaches a profound lesson about humility and generosity. He reminds us that those who exalt themselves will be humbled, while those who humble themselves will be exalted. This wisdom resonates deeply, especially on a day like today, as I celebrate my 62nd birthday. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that true fulfillment comes from living a life redeemed by love and service rather than seeking accolades or recognition.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of cooking a meal of salmon and bake potatoes for 25 prisoners at our local state prison. This act was more than just a meal; it was an embodiment of the Christian call to serve the less fortunate. In conducting Catholic Bible Study classes there, I’ve witnessed firsthand how sharing God’s Word can illuminate lives, even in the darkest of places. Jesus’ words remind us that when we invite the marginalized—those who cannot repay us—into our lives, we embody the spirit of the Kingdom of God.

By seeking to fulfill His Will, I strive to live out the blessings that come from selfless acts of kindness. The promise that “they will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous” encourages me to invest in eternal treasures rather than temporary rewards. Each act of service, each moment spent in fellowship with those in need, draws me closer to the heart of God.

As I reflect on my life at 62, I am grateful for the opportunity to live as one with my soul-mate in Christ Jesus, Toni, serving the least together as we grow in faith. May we continue to seek the Kingdom of God in all that we do, embodying humility and love, and may our actions reflect the beauty of a life redeemed. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

11-04-2024 Luke 14 V-1114

**Repaid at the Resurrection of the Righteous**

In humble hearts where true grace flows,

A lesson found in words He chose,

“Exalt not self,” the Savior said,

For in the meek, true glory’s bred.

When banquets call and tables spread,

Invite the poor, the lost, the dead,

For in their eyes, the light of hope,

In service shared, our spirits cope.

Not for the praise, nor for the fame,

But in love’s name, we play the game,

The rich reward, the lasting prize,

Awaits the humble, complies the wise.

So let us gather, hand in hand,

To lift the fallen, make a stand,

With open hearts, we share our bread,

In every life, let kindness spread.

For when we serve the least of these,

We find our joy, our heart’s true ease,

In every smile, a sacred glance,

We dance with grace, in love's own chance.

And at the end, when day is done,

We’ll hear the call, “Well done, My son,”

For every deed that sought no gain,

Will find its home, in love’s refrain. Amen.
