The Gospel of Luke Chapter 2 V- 25 and 35
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him.26 It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. 27 He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, 28 he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: 29 “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation, 31 which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”33 The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; 34 and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted 35 (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
In Luke 2:25-35, we encounter the prophetic words of Simeon, an elderly man who has been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Messiah before his death. Upon seeing the infant Jesus, Simeon declares Him to be “a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of your people Israel” (Luke 2:32). Yet, he also proclaims that Jesus is destined to be “a sign that will be contradicted” (Luke 2:34).
This duality highlights the complex nature of Jesus’ mission on Earth. As a sign, Jesus embodies the fulfillment of God's promises, yet He also becomes a point of contention. His life and teachings challenge established norms and provoke opposition, foreshadowing the rejection He would face from religious authorities and ultimately leading to His crucifixion.
Simeon’s words about Mary, stating, “a sword will pierce your own soul too” (Luke 2:35), underscore the profound emotional and spiritual anguish she would experience. This piercing symbolizes the deep suffering that accompanies love and the burdens of motherhood, particularly for one whose child is destined for such a tumultuous path. Mary’s journey is not just one of joy, but also of sorrow as she witnesses her Son’s struggles and rejection. Her heartache reflects the broader reality of faith; believing in Jesus entails navigating profound grief and challenges, especially as one confronts the contradictions of faith in a world resistant to divine truth.
Together, these elements in Simeon’s prophecy reveal the transformative nature of Jesus’ life and mission—bringing both light and conflict, joy and sorrow, ultimately culminating in the redemptive love that defines the Christian faith. Amen.,
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. The Soul of my sister-in-law Carmen. Death Uncle Donald. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20
02-02-2025 Luke 2 v2535
**You May Let Your Servant Go in Peace**
In Jerusalem's quiet, a promise unfolds,
An elder named Simeon, with faith strong and bold.
The Spirit had whispered, a child he would see,
The hope of all nations, their Savior to be.
He waited in patience, a life steeped in prayer,
With eyes fixed on heaven, his heart laid bare.
When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus in hand,
He knew in that moment, God’s truth had been planned.
He lifted the infant, a light in his arms,
A beacon of hope, with divine inner charms.
"Now, Lord, let Your servant depart in peace,
For my eyes have beheld, Your glory's release."
A light to the Gentiles, salvation in sight,
A glory for Israel, burning ever so bright.
Yet with joy came a shadow, a warning profound,
For hearts would be tested, and trials abound.
So Simeon spoke of the child’s destined way,
A sign for the rising, and a fall for the gray.
In that sacred moment, with love intertwined,
He blessed them with wisdom, the future aligned. Amen.
