The Gospel of Luke Chapter 1 V- 26 through 38

26 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary.28 And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” 29 But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, 33 and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” 34 But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” 35 And the angel said to her in reply, “The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. 36 And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; 37 for nothing will be impossible for God.”38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

In Luke 1:26-38, we encounter the moment of the Annunciation, where the Angel Gabriel announces to Mary that she will conceive Jesus, the Son of God. This pivotal scene highlights Mary's unique role in salvation history and is fundamental to understanding the Catholic Church's Dogma concerning her.

The Catholic Church teaches us believers that Mary is Theotokos, or "Mother of God," a title affirmed at the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD. This dogma emphasizes that Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, who is both fully divine and fully human. By accepting the angel's message with faith and obedience, Mary's fiat—her "yes" to God—demonstrates her pivotal role in God's plan for humanity.

We Catholics also believe in the Immaculate Conception, which holds that Mary was conceived without original sin, preparing her to be a pure vessel for Christ. This belief underscores her unique holiness and her special relationship with God. Additionally, the Assumption of Mary teaches that at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, signifying her close association with her Son's resurrection.

Mary is venerated as a model of faith and obedience, embodying the ideal response to God's call. Her humility and trust in God's plan serve as an inspiration for all believers. The Church encourages the faithful to seek Mary's intercession, recognizing her as a compassionate and powerful advocate.

In summary, Luke 1:26-38 not only narrates the announcement of Jesus's birth but also lays the groundwork for understanding the profound respect and veneration the Catholic Church holds for Mary as the Mother of God, a figure of grace, faith, and maternal care for all humanity. Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with the blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy woman Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

12-20-2024 Luke 1 v2638

**The Power of the Most High will Overshadow You**

In Nazareth, a quiet holy town,

An angel came with grace profound,

His wings aglow with heaven's might,

To Mary, he spoke with sacred light.

“Rejoice, O favored one,” he gracefully said,

“For in your womb, the Christ is bred.

The Spirit's power will you embrace,

The Son of God, through you, finds His place.”

With humble heart, she paused and prayed,

“What can this mean? I am afraid.”

Yet faith arose, dispelling doubt,

A willing heart, her soul sang out.

“Behold, I am the servant true,

Let it be done, as you would do.”

Her fiat echoed throughout the skies,

A mother’s love, where hope would rise.

In this encounter, grace unfurled,

A new beginning for the entire world.

Through Mary’s yes, God’s plan took flight,

The dawn of peace, Salvation’s Might. Amen.
