The Gospel of Luke Chapter 17 Verse 20 thru 25

20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he said in reply, “The coming of the kingdom of God cannot be observed, 21 and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’ For behold, the kingdom of God is among you.” 22 Then he said to his disciples, “The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23 There will be those who will say to you, ‘Look, there he is,’ [or] ‘Look, here he is.’ Do not go off, do not run in pursuit. 24 For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be [in his day].25 But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation.

In Luke 17:20-25, Jesus addresses the Pharisees’ question about when the kingdom of God would come. He emphasizes that the kingdom is not something that can be observed or pointed to, for “the kingdom of God is in your midst.” This proclamation reminds us that God's reign is not merely about future events but is also a present reality. Yet, the text carries a deeper warning about the expectations surrounding Christ's second coming.

For over 2,000 years, believers have anticipated Christ’s return. Many have pointed to signs, making predictions and setting dates based on current events and societal unrest. However, Jesus cautions against such speculation. He states clearly, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.” This suggests that until the fullness of time has come, and God's purposes are achieved, we should not be misled by worldly pressures or timeframes.

Today, it is essential for us to remain vigilant and discerning. The world may peddle interpretations that distract us from the depth of Christ's teachings. Indeed, there is much tribulation to endure, fueled by the evil that surrounds us, embodying the work of Satan and his minions. These trials serve as a reminder to ground ourselves in faith and look beyond mere predictions.

Do not let the world convince you that Christ’s imminent return is a settled matter; rather, stand firm in your faith journey, understanding that Jesus will return in His perfect timing. While we await with hope, it is crucial to be aware of the battles we face today as we live out our faith amidst adversity. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. Ephesians 6:17-20

11-13-2025 Luke 17 v2025

**First He Must Suffer Greatly**

In whispers soft, the Pharisees sought,

“Where is the kingdom? Is it not caught?

They yearned for signs, for grandeur, for might,

Yet the Kingdom of God comes, not with visible light.

Among them He stood, this simple man,

In the hearts of the faithful, there lies the true plan.

“Behold,” Jesus replied, “it’s not here or there,

In the midst of you, the Kingdom does share.”

For eyes straining outward, they miss the true grace,

It dwells in the hearts where His love finds its place.

No palace adorned, no throne to ascend,

But a heart set to love is the Kingdom, my friend.

Yet the days will draw dark, as the days of old,

When the Son of Man comes, bold yet untold.

Like lightning that flashes from east to the west,

So will He return, in glory, expressed.

But first, He must suffer, rejection and scorn,

As He walks through the shadows, the bonds shall be torn.

For those who wander, like sheep lost and weak,

In His death, He calls them; it’s His love that they seek.

So linger not long on the signs of the sky,

For the Kingdom is here, yet many still cry:

“Where is the victor, the crown, the brave fight?”

In each gentle heart, the Kingdom ignites.

So look to the heavens, yet find Him within,

For love is the kingdom where life can begin.

In each tender moment, in grace we abide,

In the heart of the humble, the Kingdom resides. Amen.
