The Gospel of Luke Chapter 11 Verse 37 thru 41

37 After he had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home. He entered and reclined at table to eat. 38 The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal. 39 The Lord said to him, “Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. 40 You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? 41 But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.

In Luke 11:37-41, we witness a profound interaction between Jesus and a Pharisee who invited Him to dine. Upon entering, Jesus did not wash His hands, a ritual that shocked the Pharisee. This act highlights a central theme: the contrast between outward appearances and inner purity. Jesus confronts the notion of ritualistic cleanliness and reveals a deeper truth—that true purity comes from within.

In verses 39-40, Jesus criticizes the Pharisees for prioritizing external rituals while ignoring the corruption within. He emphasizes that the critical issue is not merely the act of washing, but the state of the heart. This is a compelling reminder for us today: we may often focus on outward behaviors, but without addressing the selfish motives and excess that linger within us, we miss the mark.

Jesus urges the Pharisees to give to the poor, illustrating that true righteousness is found in acts of love and generosity—serving others rather than being consumed by self-interest. He calls attention to the need to remove the 'evil' that dwells inside us, the greed, anger, and self-centeredness that taint our hearts.

To find freedom from sin, we must be willing to confront and cleanse our inner selves. Practicing generosity not only frees us from the chains of selfish desire but also reorients our focus toward compassion, helping us cultivate a purer heart.

Reflecting on this passage, let us remember the call to examine our motivations and relationships. By choosing to give, to love, and to serve, we find a path to liberation from the burdens of sin and the joy of a life aligned with God’s will. Amen.

Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.

At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

Ephesians 6:17-20

10-14-2025 Luke 11 v3741

**Inside You Are Filled With Plunder and Evil**

In a house where shadows linger, gathered in the light,

A Pharisee invites the One who sees the heart,

With water poured and hands washed clean, a ritual so bright,

Yet deeper truths are veiled where pretense plays a part.

The Savior speaks of blind eyes keen, yet missing what is true,

For outward cleansed, the soul remains untouched by grace,

“Give from your heart, let love imbue, let mercy flow anew,

For that which comes from deep within is what truly finds its place.”

“Woe to the mindful, lovers of the law you hold so tight,

You’re blinded by the gleam of gold, but poverty’s your fear,

Yet hollowed hearts can never shine, and within the dark of night,

True gifts of faith, like purest wine, bring forth the clearer tear.”

So cleanse the soul and empty hands, let kindness overflow,

For in the depths of giving, true fulfillment we shall find,

In loving gestures, small and grand, the world is made to glow,

To live in grace, to share the light, igniting hearts and minds. Amen.
