The Gospel of Luke Chapter 1 V- 57 through 64
57 When the time arrived for Elizabeth to have her child she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy toward her, and they rejoiced with her. 59 When they came on the eighth day to circumcise the child, they were going to call him Zechariah after his father, 60 but his mother said in reply, “No. He will be called John.”61 But they answered her, “There is no one among your relatives who has this name.” 62 So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. 63 He asked for a tablet and wrote, “John is his name,” and all were amazed. 64 Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God.
In Luke 1:57-64, we witness a profound moment in the life of Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist. After months of silence imposed upon him due to his disbelief, Zechariah finally speaks when it is time to name his son. His mouth opens, and he immediately praises God, proclaiming the name "John," as instructed by the angel Gabriel. This act signifies not just the fulfillment of God’s promise but also Zechariah’s renewed faith and obedience. His song of praise, known as the Benedictus, overflows with gratitude and prophetic insight, marking a pivotal moment in salvation history.
This passage serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of surrendering to God. Like Zechariah, we may find ourselves in moments of silence, doubt, or fear, but through faith in Jesus, we can experience a revival of our voices. When we surrender our lives to Christ, our fears are replaced with courage and our silence with a bold proclamation of the Gospel.
I believe that my mouth will open like Zechariah's when I fully embrace the salvation offered through Jesus. In those moments of divine opportunity, I want to be unafraid and unwavering, ready to share the Good News with anyone who needs to hear it. Calling upon the Name of Jesus grants us the assurance that we are never alone and empowers us to speak truth into the world around us.
As we reflect on this passage, let us pray for the courage to share our faith boldly, trusting in God’s promises. May we be open vessels, ready to proclaim His goodness at a moment's notice, just as Zechariah did. Amen.
Join me as we pray our daily prayer of forgiveness. The Lord’s Prayer.
At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
I am sorry Lord. I believe You died and rose for me. Please forgive me as I forgive others. I share You as my Lord and Savior seeking to live your Will in all things. Prayers for wife Toni and my mother Betty pray for our children especially our two oldest Alexandra & Allen Son in Law Mark Stern; Julian, Gabriel and Jeffrey and our grandchildren Oliver, Julian and Elliott. We pray for those we’ve said we’d pray for and those who’ve asked us to pray for them. We pray for the dying as we do each day Lord give them peace in their last breath. We pray for Holy Mother Church. Our prayers for our niece Brittany. In Jesus Precious Blood by His Name we pray. Amen.

**John is His Name**
In days of old, a promise bright,
A child was born, a beacon of light.
In quiet prayer, Zechariah stood,
His doubts now silenced, his heart understood.
The time had come, the moment near,
With joy and hope, he cast out fear.
At last, he spoke, the name was clear,
“John” echoed forth, the heavens to cheer.
His lips unsealed, with praise they flowed,
A melody of grace, a heart bestowed.
God's love proclaimed calling out since birth,
In this small child, the world found worth.
A father’s song, a prophecy’s dawn,
The way prepared, for the One to come.
With every word, a promise unfurled,
Salvation’s light to all the world.
Oh, let us learn from Zechariah's tale,
To trust in God when faith seems frail.
For when we surrender, our voices arise,
To share the Gospel, to lift our eyes.
In moments of doubt, in silence we wait,
But God will use us, it’s never too late.
So let us be bold, and never refrain,
To speak of His love, to share His Holy name.
For just like John, we’re called to proclaim,
The hope of salvation, forever the same.
With hearts open wide, let our voices sing,
In the name of Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.
